[WebERP-developers] Project status

Dear all,

The website at weberp.org had been deleted and so I have now created a
new one at https://weberp.org. The code for this site is at
https://github.com/timschofield/weberp.org if anybody has any ideas
for improvements/fixes, please create pull requests. In the deletion
the forum was lost, and with it 12 years of community contributed
wisdom. I am doing my best to scrape this info back, and put it up on
the website.

The demo doesn't work at the moment. I have been working hard at many
changes to webERP (https://github.com/timschofield/webERP/wiki/V5) in
order to release a version 5.0 in the near future, and it is my
intention to create a release candidate for v5, and when I have it, I
will put it up on the site as a demo for wny interested people to
check. The current code for v5.0 can be found at
https://github.com/timschofield/webERP

The webpage _says_ the demo is available, so I clicked and logged in. Visually looks very nice! Is the code ready now for testing? (if not, do you have a hopeful date? e.g. before Christmas?)

domPDF seems very good replacement for tcpdf

What is the future for KwaMoja?

works. I am aiming for the end of the year for a v5.0 release. Any
help in testing the demo, and reporting any issues to here -
https://github.com/timschofield/webERP/discussions - would be greatly
appreciated.

I am porting all the improvements I did to KwaMoja into webERP.

Thanks Dale, I have nearly completed a total rewrite of the installer.
Hopefully done by tomorrow, Wednesday at latest.

No problem reporting stuff here, I actually prefer maining lists but I
am told they are old fashioned.

Hi Tim, I'm a little more pragmatic - use what works - and this is what works.

I found a backup of tutorial database that was dumped from a working system 2018-10-01. I will clone your repo head to the server, and see what breaks when I login (hopefully I have written down my old password somewhere....)

Fwiw, my (current) app stack is PHP 8.1.29, Apache 2.4.62 and MariaDb 10.6.18.

I'll update probably in a few days...

Do I need the installer? I'm a) using an existing database and b) will copy config.distrib.php to config.php and edit appropriately.

First time login to new code and restorated 2018 database. The login window shows the webERP demo logo instead of my database. 

Is this possible I don't have the password correct in config.php?

[WebERP-developers] Database upgrade issues

Tim, you are correct. I had forgotten to re-create the companies directory corresponding to the database name. Doh!

After recreating the companies directory with company logo I was able to login to my Nov-2018 demo database (same database I used to create my blog tutorial posts). Woo hoo! :-)

My jubilation was shortlived though.

Z_UpgradeDatabase.php ran immediateley after login (i.e. without seeing the dashboard) showing a table indicating database upgrades 0 through 7 were required. I clicked "Continue with Upgrades" and the page then showed only the header "Database Upgrade". Nothing happened after several minutes so I tried refreshing the browser tab to no effect. I then browsed to the index page and Z_UpgradeDatabase.php ran againm, but this time showing only upgrades 5 to 7 were required. I clicked "Continue with Upgrades" again, and again the system seemed stuck showing only header "Database Upgrades". I browsed back to the index page, and again Z_UpgradeDatabase.php ran, which listed upgrades 5 to 7 again.

At this point I'm stuck. I'm going to restore the database backup again and retrace my steps to confirm behavior. I'm assuming investigating this is of benefit because I presume active webERP users will want to upgrade their databases. 

Do you want me to send the database sql.gz? (it's not confidential or proprietary). I didn't keep a copy of the companys/company/part_pics directory, but don't expect this would be a cause of problems (only that pics wouldn't be shown viewing browsing stock items, if I should I get that far....)

Would you like me to enable debugging before I try again?

Fwiw, I copied some errors from the Apache httpd-error.log below in case they are helpful. The app stack is PHP 8.1.29, Apache 2.4.62 and MariaDb 10.6.18.

Hi Tim, I browsed the topic you linked and will comment after reviewing in more detail.

I can't trust upgrades weren't partially applied, so will restore the database from backup and experiment more later (our front porch needs some restoration work completed before the snow starts here in earnest next week...)
