Here's COGSGLPostings.php. Phil, about 3/4 down the file in the Select for Sales Type / Price List I believe the Option value should be ANY but it already said AN so I did not change. You may want to look at that. The rest are ANY. OutstandingGRNs.php has an include for PDFStarter_ros.inc. Does that mean I'm automatically supposed to enable Multilanguage in that file too? I'm thinking I don't have enough experience with the pdf class to do a good job on a file such as OutstandingGRNs.php. For instance, it has $pdf->addinfo('Title',"Outstanding GRNs Report"); and I'm not positive what to Multilanguage enable and what not to. It would be better for me to receive regular files and have someone other than myself with more experience in the area do those PDF ones. Possibly one or two people should do all PDF files because they will be good at it and do a better job. I have been doing many regular files and have gotten better and faster at doing them... This will need some research since alternative fonts may well be required and character sets and it all gets a bit technical I was hoping a scientist could figure this out. With pdf.php class from R & OS that we are using, we can only use single bit fonts. I understand most True Type fonts can be converted to single bit fonts in a .afm file and things will work. I am not entirely sure but I think the character set will be set by gettext when the _() function gets called. My conversion of the pdf scripts to date has been a simple string substitution and the technical stuff is yet to be resolved. I am hoping there is a way around this. I suspect for double byte character sets like Chinese - there will not be :-( Phil |

We can only do so much, especially at a time. What we are doing goes a long, long way. Sounds like pfds will likely have trouble and they would have to find some other reporting solution or at least modify the existing class. I'm thinking the rest of the system will handle Chinese when we're done although it probably won't be too pretty. The question is whether all the others handle it any better... Hi Phil, I noticed you've committed those 3 scripts I did yesterday to the cvs already. Can I have some more please? I've got the other 3 that involve PDF on hold in the hopes that they will get allocated to someone else more familiar with that stuff. If I have to I'll do them at the end but I'm not real keen on it. Here's PaymentTerms.php including diff... A couple of points about the last 3 scripts: 1) I may have enclosed \n within single quotes. I'm not sure if php can translate that within single quotes. It's so common I would think so but possibly it needs double quotes... 2) I'm not 100% sure whether I'm doing the printf's correctly. I'm leaving them alone as much as possible but when there is something within that needs translating I'm terminating the string before with double quotes, concatenating the translated part and then resuming with double quotes. What bothers me most is there are double quotes sometimes within the double quote string! I guess that works... I'm thinking I'm doing these correctly but please let me know whether I am or not so I know for sure in the future... Just a small point on formatting table echo statements: I had some pretty ugly looking echo statements I have been splitting them with carriage returns after </TD> trying to keep a <TD>Some other stuff</TD> on a single line - so it is easier to see what is in each cell of a table. I have also been trying to tidy up with some carriage returns the printf statements and the SQL splitting up SQL on major constructs. The SELECT showing each column returned on a separate line, then the FROM showing each table being used on a separate line, then the WHERE with each AND split also. I think the resultant SQL is quite a bit more readable. As with a few things I wish I had done this from the outset but hey!!! Also, I am still trying to make all calls to DB_query use $ErrMsg and $DbgMsg and occassionally rollback=true DB_query takes up to 5 parameters $result = DB_query( $SQL , $TheDBHandle, $ErrorMessageOnFail, $DebugMessageOnlyVisibleToASysAdmin, $InTheMiddleOfADBTransationSoRollbackIfError, $DontHandleErrorsInsideThisFunction ); $DebugMessageOnlyVisibleToASysAdmin defaults to _('the SQL that failed was') - or something like it. $InTheMiddleOfADBTransationSoRollbackIfError - defaults to false so no rollback is attempted if an error is returned from the SQL server $DontHandleErrorsInsideThisFunction defaults to false - so DB_query always tries to handle errors if not set to true - this is a problem in that attempts to check for errors after calls to DB_query will not even be actioned - since DB_query will have included footer.inc and exited the script! This is a huge amount for those not as familiar with the code to get correct in one shot. I've been doing where I notice but I've also been using the priorities 1) Don't mess anything up. 2) Translation is the main task and needs to be done quick and right. 3) The rest works right, it's cleanup. Of course cleanup is good too. With those priorities, at times, my blinders are on for the rest. Just too much. Plus I don't even understand the differences between the old db statements and these yet. The rest I've been trying to do lately. With Payments.php there could be an issue with if ($_GET['NewPayment']=="Yes"){ It must not end up translated on being passed or it needs to be translated in this file. One or the other. I left it hard coded "Yes". This is a parameter passed with the call to the page - it should not be translated. You certainly got through these quickly. Put me to shame! Will try to commit them tonight. Steve, Man you are hungry for this stuff!! Prices.php Steve Prices_Customer.php Steve PurchData.php ReverseGRN.php SalesAnalReptCols.php - this one has the english field names stored in the db with the english string which needs translation inside functions. you'll figure it out. Here's Prices.php... Not sure I did this line correct. One reason is I can't find that it is ever actually used anywhere. It calls the same script, however, that script never tests the submit button named NewPart... echo _('Pricing for part') . ':<input type=text name="Item" maxsize=22 value="' . $Item . '" maxlength=20><INPUT TYPE=SUBMIT NAME=NewPart Value="' . _('Review Prices') . '">'; Phil, it may be a good idea in the instructions for proper coding to state to put everything in single quotes with variables concatenated? Possibly an example of an "array" variable having single quotes such as $myrow["CurrAbrev"] >>>>>> $myrow['CurrAbrev'] That will help translating new code in the future as well as keeping everything in one standard coding style. Hopefully it serves to point out for whoever ends up translating the pages that set this variable and call its script.
