Dear Phil and All, > Sorry its taken me a few days to comment on your design work. It is fine :) > This design looks great! Thank you! > What is the intention with the GO TO selection box? I noticed that Menu in the top right side (in the stable version, not CVS) stays the same all the time. So I thought about putting it on a pull down so it gets less space in the interface. > One point - design seems to have adopted the old horizontal format. > Steve's new design that I recently committed to the CVS is more vertical > than the old horizontal way - you may want to have a look at this - I > like the fact that we can get more links visible on the page with his > way. It makes good use of the whole screen - even works at 600x800. Well, I did not see the CVS version yet... Please point me the way to get there. Some point I can share in my experience is that the interface must attend to 2 types of user: the new user and the everyday user. The new user needs to easily get along with the interface. The everyday user needs the interface to work as fast as possible as well as efficient as possible to them. I saw the webERP as far as Interface and Navigation in the stable version as follows: - Modules (payables, receivables, etc) - In Module Navigation (that is the main menu link and others) - these stay as the same in all modules - Options for each modules (those are unique for each module) > I have had lectures from Steve about how the visual appeal is important > for marketing purposes and getting initial buy in from potential users > .... and since everyone will have different view on what looks good I > really like the themes idea. You do not wish to buy a Mercedes or a BMW or that wonderful Sport car because you can drive you faster to work... It is because it appeals to you. You like it. The same way with an application: you need to like its looks so you have the will to become more acquainted to it... > This may sound like me pouring cold water over your idea and I > desperately don't want to put you off contributing. No it is fine... The whole idea of copying in some way the stable interface was that we had to only change the header and footer files... It is not in my concept having to redo any development in this way, only, of course, if we decide so. Please put the stable interface side to side with this one I did and you notice that they are the same, just with the positions changed. It will work as a new theme to your stable version. > Thats not to say that if we can extend the themes concept to allow a few > more bells and whistles ... then lets do it! > Perhaps we should get stuck into the multi-language stuff first then > revisit the GUI after that.
