Sorry, just saw the feature request... Yes, this could be done, but it is now ALSA/linux (not Mac). If someone showed up who wanted this, they would get a lot of support for this, but they would have to do the work of making a Mac driver. It is quite miraculous that we have a linux driver that works, especially considering the very low number of end users.

I'm interested in branching from basic coding to driver coding, and since I have two 8/24s, I'd love to use this is a guinea pig project (to create an OSX driver; I'd likely be working in Leopard PPC, though). If there's enough interest, and if someone can point me to some solid resources to learn the ropes, I'd be more than happy to work on one...
