Hi Waste is not a p2p network, it is a buddylist, in which you can exchange the files and search them in the datalist of your firends. Of course waste offers, that freinds of your freinds join jour buddylist. this has been done, because to be able to test waste, Bute the goal of waste is to be a buddylist. So your problem does not appear, if you have a stable ip adress and your freind as well and you do not allow broadcasting your ip adresses to freinds of your friend. This is the malfunction of waste: Dynamic ip adresses cannot use waste or are forced to use the "boradcast ip adresses" function. Waste needs a central server ( or some internconnected and selfupdating servers like the edonkey servers) to identify, search and exchange keys and ip adresses. Until this server is not developed WASTE will not be developed. Because the developers have themself no plan in which direction to develop and they are very slow at coding, this means WASTE has stopped. If there would be a working buddylist with a server for waste, You could establish a Secure buddylsit with a sarch.option for all files of your friends like Ares-Chat. Grouper.com and mercora.com, DCCplus and some other offers. IF waste would be a Buddylist, Gaim, Miranda, jabber and gab messenger would start to make it hybrid with waste and integrate waste, then we have the possibility to chat with aol buddies until they are not on waste. And you easily can invite all AOL buddies to install waste. Then this Overall-Multi-Buddylist could be used to get hybrid with p2p apps. Read the mute-net list and the slyck story of ants, that trusteed peers = Buddies ar eneeded to be the direct neighbour contact to the network this could be the aol and watse buddies. then the friends of your friends route packets over the mute protocol to you, this means you are very safe, because no direct contact is made to peers, only to your known and trusted buddies and WASTE friends are connected. Over the long, mute and waste are perfect to get hybrid for the point of trusteed peers/ buddies. But this is now only implementd in ants. And Ants in in java and watse in c++ so... no chance to integrate the trusted Peers in Ants over the Waste Key management of a buddylist. For the development of waste i only hope, that there will be in the near future a ring of servers, performing a buddy search for those, who have a dynamic ip adress. In Other way the de-chat and de-buddylist for all p2p application, second or 3. generation will not be real. The second generation (Sahreaza discussed a jabber plugin made by spitz) does not see the necessarity of the adding a buddy sytem to the peer system. The third generation (Ants and mute) see, that the direct ip-connection should not be apeer, but a trusted, known buddy. So a buddy-list and identifaction system is already implemented in ANTS. But: As well Gwren has not solved the problem of a dynamic Ip system of the Buddies. The same with waste. Maybe Gwren will combine the solution for dynamic Ip buddyies for WASTE and ANTS. Maybe in one gui, maybe in the development of a common server system. But of course there are other things to do. Groupr and mercore are well developing and have a great gui. Waste has no development. Dunno why other projects evolve so pretty and other not. See as well the edonkey community, here are a lot of developers, tipp tipp and a plugin system is there or a tool for linkcreating and so on... We shoudl combine the coder resoruces for all this... Make a Hybrid app, that uses Mute/ants third generationprotocol, Waste and Gaim for Bootstrapping to trusted buddies/peers and a routing converter to get media from edoneky clients like shareaza. So the emonkey (Mutt and Shareaza) has mainly - Mute - Edonkey (2.generation contact) - A Buddylist (Gaim plus waste) for bootstrappign to trusted peers. This would be awful! But no one can code this. So forget WASTE. PS: On last word to the Shareaza development, there seems to be developemtn, but they only plisih the technical nitty gritties, no one of the alpha team wants to get in the leader position to make a real new feature and giving us the direction, in what shareaza wil be transformed. This is a social problem , shareaza has to solve, after mike has left. though there are some users, which post: I want buddies in Shareaza, I want new protocols liek Mute MFC in shareaza... but we still believe in the establishment. The waste procet mamanegr has as well never given us a direction the project goes. Just the same ... So .. Forget about it all, there are commercial groups, which are quicker to develop.. see www.grouper.com It is end to end encrypted as well, has a buddylsit, and misses only mp3 filetransfer - but you can rename the mp3-files in jpg. and share them then. use Grouper!
