I'm running the default waimea setup on a ibm mpro dual
2.0 xeon, 4gb ram , matrox 450 (i think) dual head 2
NEC monitors using driver mgapdesk-1_00-
7beta_i386.rpm from
http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/files/lnx_200
.cfm running redhat 7.2. I have not seen this X
behavior when running kde, gnome, or fluxbox.
Basically the behavior is I will drag an xterm around on
display 1 and i will see "garbage" output on the other
display in the same pattern. I can make out the
text "xterm" on the screen at times..

This is likely a problem with the XRender extention and
Matrox dual-head cards. There is a problem with the
hardware acceleration that causes some of the XRednder
visuals (most notably antiailised text) to appear on the
wrong head.
In theory, this was fixed in XFree86 4.2.0, but I'm still
having the problem on my box (I also have a G450). One way
around it is to get the MGA HAL driver and configure your
G450 with the MGA PDesk program to merge the displays.
This has a few side-effects, though: it will enable hardware
GL acceleration, it will fix the XRender bug, but it will
make you not use Xinerama which will make the window manager
you use not know that you are using two screens, and I think
that another side effect is that it breaks the hardware
acceleration for video scaling.
