Just uploaded version 1.0-1, a couple little bug and behavior fixes, big re-work of the GUI and also
the first run dialog, looking sharp and ready for testing! Just used a pic folder for the screenie instead of
actual wallpapers, thus the kitteh pics. ;) Big thanks to Ceeslans for the second shot, looks great! :

Just uploaded the wallpaper app i've been working on, VuuPaper ; https://sourceforge.net/projects/vuu-do/files/Miscellaneous/apps/VuuPaper/
This is a very simple and small utility inspired by Nitrogen, written in C and GTK3, and using xwallpaper for the backend.
Easy to use and optimized via large thumbnails and uncluttered interface for folks like me with some vision issues.
This is the first version, still might have some small bugs and surely could use some polishing, but it seems pretty stable
and very useful even in multi-monitor setups. Some nice features and workflow too, check it out when you have time!... read more

Lots of updating, brand new AlsaTune, Vuu-do App Info, Fatstick, and Scrotshot apps uploaded.
The new AlsaTune is especially nice now having fine-tuned balance ability. Lots of little behavior
fixes and some typo-fixing too. Better postinst scripts in the older apps as well. Check 'em out!
Added dual volume controls for channels that have that capability and some other tweaks, still testing for now.

Uploaded the default Vuu-do theme and icons in a compressed file last night, Ice-Breaker is made from
three older themes with a LOT of modding, and the Oxy2-ZEN icons have been around for a really long
time, been carefully carrying them over from distro to distro over the years, and curating the content,
modding a few, adding some, and only dropping just a few in the last 16 years or so. I think it's a nice
setup, hybrid light/dark theme that's easy to view and work in yet still fairly easy on the eyes.... read more

Version 3.2-0 uploaded, Lots of changes, fixed a regression and added some features, the function
to move an ,asoundrc file was not working, moved that and single-instance check and the default
presets.csv creation into a wrapper script, and also cleaned up a LOT of dialogs and various other
visual tweaks. Looking good now and also working in MATE.

EDIT: New version 1.0-2 uploaded! https://sourceforge.net/projects/vuu-do/files/Miscellaneous/apps/VuuNotes/
Well I just got done with the last version, but had some really good suggestions from the Devuan Users forum.
Haven't packaged this yet, still testing. Added a function for clickable hyperlinks to open in default browser, and a
first run dialog that now offers to install the save folder in the default location or let the user select one via the
file-chooser dialog. Thanks to ceeslans and Zathras for the suggestions!... read more

EDIT: Got it done and uploaded ; https://sourceforge.net/projects/vuu-do/files/Miscellaneous/apps/VuuNotes/
And trying to dodge various April Fools jokes and pranks all day! Well this is no prank despite
the fact that I may indeed be a fool of sorts. Working on VuuNotes as it deserves some attention.
I've been using it daily for quite a while and it's handy as a shirt pocket. I fixed a tiny focus issue so the
searchbar helper text is visible on startup, and added a function to delete notes from the GUI.
FYI emoji support has been in gtk3 since 3.22, so you can right-click in the text area and pick an
emoji from the drop down. Going to finish this new version today and finally package it as a .deb.... read more

Got the new one uploaded, there were a fair number of updates including imagemagick and others.
For Xlibre, all Xorg packages that have a replacement available were swapped, while any that didn't
remain. I couldn't install the amdgpu package for the latest AMD cards dues to the backports libgallium
issue, and some very old amd packages for 15+ year old cards like mach64 are not available in the
current version of Xlibre, there are some packages for that available from an earlier version, but I
was advised that it's possibly a bad idea to mix-n-match, i'll test that later when I get access to an older
machine and report back.... read more

VuuPew (Veteran Unix User's Projectile Estimation Widget) is a small simple standalone app to calculate
trajectories for various loads. It is under construction now with a lot left to do, but I do have a working
prototype after a few days work. Fun stuff, should be helpful for re-loaders, hunters, and precision shooters.
Update 3-29-2026 ; Got a LOT of work done on this, everything is functional and it's saving the chart+ notes
nicely to a human-readable and print-able text files, added wind drift but my math is still off so working on
that and testing. Also changed the notes function to it's own editable screen and a button to toggle between
chart-view and notes-view. Lots of work left to do but it's shaping up nicely, I updated the below screenshot
to current working version.... read more
3-22-2026 EDIT: I have pulled the Xlibre iso for now, got some issues with it on my end that may not
be issues for other folks, but I can't ship something that I can't get to work 100% on my own machine,
at least not in the stable section of my files here, in the "Testing" section that's okay, so if I can figure
out what's going on and a fix for my issues, i'll likely put up another iso in the testing section.... read more

EDIT2: Okay, got it done, new iso uploaded, turned out to be over 70 updates before it was over.
EDIT: Nope, used the wrong sources.list on that iso, have to re-do it now...sigh
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Just a maintenance update for this iso, Debian did a point release a couple
of days ago, so over 60 updates including a new kernel. Trying to keep it fresh!
EDIT: 3-16-2026 - Got the new mini up, will roll that new max later today, just got busy as
we've had some severe storms here that blew down a tree in my yard.
EDIT2: Max is now up as well.
3-14-2026
It never fails, any time I run some new isos, a new kernel drops the minute I get done,
lol, so I have a new mini as of today, and a new max from yesterday that has yesterday's
kernel! Will roll up a new max later, should have both versions up tomorrow.

New forum for Devuan fans started by user Brocas Helm, just a month old now but growing! This is
where you'll be able to find me most days and i'll be happy to answer any questions there, so please
join us at https://devuanusers.com/index.php
We are not the support forum for Devuan, we are very un-official, but we are happy to help anyone out.
This forum is more about exploring outside-the-box solutions for issues, creating new software for Devuan
users, and fostering new ideas. We are very laid back and all are welcome regardless of distro-preference,
even if you just want to post jokes or a meme, humor is always important in our hectic lives these days. We
just want to have fun, and make new things, as I always say when it comes to Linux, you either make do,
or you make new. ;)... read more

The VuuPass basic password manager is now up in the files, I have not made a .deb package yet,
this is just for preliminary testing and includes the binaries and source for both the standard and
portable versions, and a readme.txt (also displayed on the download page) with instructions for
use and also for compiling your own custom version. Note that I included a .desktop for the standard
version in case you want to do a full manual install, but there's not one for the portable version, it doesn't
need one, just drop the binary on a USB stick and click it to run, it will do the rest.... read more

Started this about six months ago when I started the music player project,
decided to take it off the back-burner:

EDIT: New version 1.0-1 uploaded! Fixed the .xsession-errors issue, and expanded the
formats picked up by the scraper script to include most common formats.

Thanks to all who tried the alpha version of the music player! It helped me already to
find some bugs to work on...at some point you just need more eyes on something. Thanks
to rations and unklar especially for giving some good feedback!... read more

So I looked at a lot of the amazing note-taking apps for Linux, there's a surprising
amount of them, but I think maybe my concept of what a "note" is, is vastly different
from the folks who make them. All note-taking apps including mine are by definition
a sort of text-editor, and the note-apps out there seem to embrace that to the point
that they are now text-editors instead of note apps. I see some and they have a long
row at the top of tiny icons that do a myriad of things, it looks similar to opening something
like LibreOffice writer or calc. Whole lotta feature creep going on there.... read more

Working right up to the last minute of this year! The prototype for the app I mentioned
in my last blog post is up: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vuu-do/files/Miscellaneous/apps/VuuNotes/
It's not packaged, and no .desktop, just the compiled binary, the source code, and the compile command
for anyone who wants to play around with it.
