The Wikipedia setting has been on by default since before I joined the
project, and I've left it that way in the interest of maintaining the status
quo; however, I usually end up turning it off, and I agree that it may make
sense to change the default. Any other opinions? Perhaps something to poll
on a future dev call.
In any case, you can improve the accuracy of Wikipedia retrievals by
indexing authority data and turning on the "use_viaf" setting of the
AuthorInfo recommendation module in searches.ini; I've added a comment to
config.ini cross-referencing this setting in case that's helpful.
thanks,
Demian

Could the "authors" and Wikipedia setting be turned off by default in the
config.ini files for VuFind 2.x since the author searches still display the
wrong author (just in case other people who are just starting out don't get
confused)? Or at least a note be posted in the config file?

authors = Wikipedia
We're not too concerned since we turned the feature off, but we were not
aware of it until one of our librarians pointed it out. Or is there some
fix/patch that I'm not currently aware of?
Thanks,
Karrie Roberson
