    I have just being doing the same thing with current cygwin
    and 2.6 vtun. I find the only C file that needs patching is
    linkfd.c - all others are fine (no patch required).

    I found that the only configure problem was that it didn't
    locate 'install' propely.

    However, just because it compiles doesn't mean it works.
    Vtun relies on a tun/tap device, pipes, and ptys which are
    platform dependent and different on Windows. Configure picks
    the generic devices for cygwin which are not appropriate.

    I have been using the Windows tun/tap driver with OpenVPN
    and it appears stable and usable. The other issues are trivial
    in comparison.

    I am considereing looking at completing and submitting the
    cygwin port. Is anyone else interested or working on this?

    BTW: I can't get the pre-3.0.0 version to compile on cygwin.
