Platform: Mac OS 10.14.6 on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15", Mid-2015)
VStar Version : 2.21.2 and 2.21.3
Issue: Can not install plug-ins as VStar Plug-in Manager can no longer access remote plugin data
Suggested Priority: 15 as this breaks significant existing functionality - plug-ins cannot be installed
Steps to Repeat: Tool Menu -> Plug-in Manager -> Error Dialog - "Error reading remote plugin information" -> OK -> Error Dialog - "Plugin Manager: Initialising P..."
Thoughts: Maybe due to altered URL's with AAVSO website upgrade, or something else.
Have you tried Set Defaults in plugin prefs? See attachment.
By the way, VStar moved to GitHub awhile ago:
https://github.com/AAVSO/VStar/issues
I have been leaving SourceForge open only while migrating tickets. I'll set this to read-only now.
Hi David
Thanks for getting back to me. I tried the "Set Defaults" in "Preferences"
but the result was still the same - unable to access remote plugin
information. I do have a couple of plug-ins already loaded, so it has
worked previously, but is no longer working.
Cheers
Cameron

Thanks Cameron.
The Java version looks fine but feel free to move to a higher version if you want to.
The move to different servers at AAVSO HQ would mean that anything less than 2.21.3 would not be supported with respect to the plugin manager.
David
Hi David
I downloaded and ran VStar 2.21.3, and experienced the same errors with
using the Plug-in manager.
Kind regards
Cameron

Hi David
It looks like the new version of the app is not updating the plist file to
the new URL...
I manually updated the plist PLUGIN_BASE_URL (see attached screen capture)
from ...
https://www.aavso.org/sites/default/files/vstar-plugins/vstar-plugins-2.21.2
to ...
https://www.aavso.org/sites/default/files/vstar-plugins/vstar-plugins-2.21.3
and now it all appears to be working again.

Oh, that's interesting. Is this with WebStarted VStar or download from GitHub?
Hi David
I'm using the DMG file downloaded from the AAVSO website (here
https://www.aavso.org/vstar), but hosted on github (here
https://github.com/AAVSO/VStar/releases/download/2.21.3/vstar-mac-2.21.3.dmg
).
