We have exactly the same problem: GE monitor stops sending data. The problem can be fixed only by disconnecting and returning the USB cable. We use a USB-COM converter cable on PL2303 chips. Now we are trying to make our own cable that emulates the PL2303 chip, but has the function of automatically disconnecting/connecting the USB interface. When the data from the monitor stops coming, our program sends a special command to such a cable. And he disconnects the USB by himself and connects it again....

Dear John, We have a Philips PMU (MR 400) that has both RS232 port and an ethernet jack. Would I be able to use the VSCapture for collecting the waveforms. At this point the serial data transfer through putty is at 1hz. But we want to actually collect the waveforms and to do so, would you suggest what hardware and software I would need for windows based OS. Thank you for your help. Pavan.

Hi Juan, The Servo-U ventilator numerics and waveforms are fully supported throught the updated VSCaptureCLI app (available in the home page or files section of this site). Hi Nicolas, From the output (in CSV & JSON url export mode) , it seems the app is not able to connect to the monitor port. Ensure the monitor is set to the correct IP address (check service menu) on the same network & subnet or if the port is not blocked for any other reason. Have you tried running the app with just JSON file export and then uploading the file in another process with tail -f? Alternatively, you can try MQTT export but test the local file export first. Hi Mihir, The most recent data capture app that supports several devices is the VSCaptureCLI available here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vscapture/files/VSCaptureCLI/ You might be using an older app. For devices using Draeger Medibus.X protocol, select the appropriate module in that app. You should use waveform data capture to collect data at high resolution, such as capturing the Flow waveform. Hi all we are using VSCaptureWave to capture EEG data from a GE CARESCAPE B450. The exported EEG values seem to be scaled by a factor of 10 compared with what the monitor displays (e.g., the max range should be 500 µV but the max output in the csv file is 5'000 µV). Has anyone encountered this and found a fix or configuration change? Thanks for any pointers! Cooper

An update to this issue. Newer GE Carescape & Canvas monitors may support only higher baud rates, like 115200 and a new DRI 2019 level, unlike legacy GE monitors. An update with this option is planned. The newer monitors also seem to have PL2303 chipset based drivers inbuilt.

Hi, The module for Intellivue monitors is VSCaptureMP in the latest package VSCaptureCLI. Are you using this? The program outputs 2 timestamps: the monitor reported System time and the local time based on the recording PC time. Its better to use the monitor reported time rather than PC time for studies (due to processing lag). I've noticed that there is a linearly increasing time drift when getting IBP measurements from Intellivue Monitors; if I input raw data into the monitor and then align the output obtained through VSCapture, the drift becomes more and more prominent over time. Why does this occur? Does VSCaptureWave use the PC's internal clock to provide timestamps, or is it a software issue?

S-link is a bad choice :) . I have 50 units. Currently, there is no converter that can provide a stable connection. S-link It shuts down by itself within 2 to 7 hours and will not turn back on unless the USB is unplugged and reinserted. FTDI chipset not supported old version monitors.

Hi Ali, Based on that HL7 output, it should be possible to communicate directly with the Mindray device via HL7 (as in other Mindray monitors). Hi Omar, As mentioned in this thread, a specific older ATEN chipset VID 0x0557 is needed for GE Carescape B650 USB RS232 data export. https://sourceforge.net/p/vscapture/discussion/general/thread/4c2c225ff5/ Other cables may work, but you will need to try one that has its USB driver loaded in the Carescape B450. So I connected the B450 to my PC using a serial to USB cable, as required, yet I'm unable to receive any transmissions. I checked on PUTTY, and it seems that both devices are unable to communicate; I'm not getting a response from the monitor. Any help, please?

Hi Ali, This probably has to do with faulty USB serial cables. Try the FTDI based chipsets like Startech null modem cable, that can be used with without a null modem.

Hi Kai, The latest VSCaptureCLI v1.006 version supports Mindray HL7 data capture via LAN. The monitor firmware needs to support HL7 output (as shown in the settings or service menu). The data port configuration can be set to port 4601. It has been tested with uMec series but should also supports other models and OSes like Mac, Windows, Linux. Regards, John

Hello All, We are having a problem keeping data flow up from GE B650 monitors to our Raspberry Pi devices. Some of them take days to encounter a problem, and some of them break communication on the same day. The only solution when/if that happens is to unplug the USB from the monitor side and then plug it back in. Restarting the app or even rebooting the Raspberry Pi device won't help recover the bad connection. Our app that runs on the Raspberry Pi is designed to run multiple devices (ventilators...

I just got myself a Mindray N1 from the US as the european firmware blocks access to the HL7 as you can see here https://youtu.be/NBe7d19WzyQ there are ways to get data. I have not yet tried out your software as I am currently only having access to a MAC but hopefully will be on a Windows computer by next week. Hi, I want to try to collect data next week from the IP5 (connected to MR400). I also see in the official manual that only 1Hz is possible (via serial and via HIS). Can you tell me how you extracted the data? did you use a standard cable? did you use this VitalSignsCapture software to extract the data? Hi Julian, Currently only the S/5 protocol is supported via RS232 or USB port (with connection of ATEN USB serial cable and null modem). The Unity network via LAN is not supported.

Hi I am trying to use VitalSignsCaptureMP to receive data from a Philips IntelliVue X3 patient monitor via LAN. So far it has not worked. The monitor rejects the program's requests on the 24105 portal. Using WireShark, I recorded the data exchange between this patient monitor and the Philips regular computer that receives the data. Hi Inbar, The cable and port used is incorrect. You will need to use the DB9 RS232 serial port in the ventilator (image attached) and a usb serial cable. Choose PB ventilator module in the latest VSCaptureCLI app. Please note that the app currently supports numerics only, but waveforms can be added if you can obtain the manufacturer protocol document for this. Hi, I used an ethernet cable connected to the port in the back of the ventilator (image attached). To the ethernet cable I connected the medicollector adapter (https://www.medicollector.com/store/p4/cbl-5010-for-connecting-philips-intellivue-mp20-mp50-mp70-mp90.html), then an adapter from RS232 to USB and that was connected to my PC/Raspberry Pi. This cable configuration worked for me with the Philips Intellivue monitor.

Hi, I tried to get waveform data from a PB980 vent using this version - VSCaptureCLIv1.004Binary.zip. It did not work, and then I saw you also have this file - VSCapturePBv1.001Binary.zip. I'm not sure how should I work with these files. Should I run only the 2nd one? or the CLI and then the PB specific one? Thank you!

As long term user of the project, please consider supporting it through the main page menu link. The GE R860 ventilator is supported by the Engstrom module of VSCaptureCLI under ventilators menu. The issue could be due to the cable wiring. The RS232 ports labelled 5 and 6 on the ventilator are the data output ports. The cable pins to be connected are 2,3 and 5 (see image). And we are using 3 pin Rx,Tx,Gnd cable for connection. But we cant read anything so far from the Ventilator. Hi Alex, Draeger Atlan data export via the RS232 port maybe supported as it uses the Medibus.X protocol. Choose this option or module in the latest VSCaptureCLI app. Regarding the checksum errors, this usually occurs due to performance issues of the serial cable. Try using a FTDI chipset based USB serial cable for higher data fidelity. BW, John.

Dear Katie, Please use the latest version of VSCaptureCLI available from this site, that has the updated data capture modules for several medical devices. Using the LAN port along with a hospital network may lead to data dropouts. Either grant exclusive LAN access or capture data via RS232/MIB port. The LAN port is desirable for data fidelity. Using the option All waves in in the Intellivue module is not recommended, as it can lead to data loss (due to bandwidth constraints of the monitor). It's...

Dear All, We have been using VS capture successfully to collect EEG and physiological data from Phillips Intellivue MX550 monitors via the LAN port & a hospital network. We are using the older MP vs capture version and option 11 (All). Last week it just randomly stopped working. It seems to be collecting pulse ox data fine but not EEG data from the bis module. it is also no longer generating any extra text files? When i start a capture with "Command line used for CLI: --devices -device1type 2 --device1model 1 --device1arg -port COM8 -interval 5 -export 1 -waveset 4" a new RAW file is created but no CSV file. I'm attaching the RAW file, is the software compatible with Drager Vista 120S ? Have you a solution ? :D Thank you for you help, Best regards, Damien

Dear Jhon, we are trying to use your device to connect to an infusion pump and Intellivue Philips monitor MX-80, sadly we have not been succesfull to adquire any signal, we are trying to connect to the monitor through the RS232 port since the LAN port is being used by the hospital. We have made our costum cable according to the Manual as well as changing the configuration setting in the monitor (DCC mode), and we still do not have connection it is for a university project and he have been struggling...

In all Mindray monitors, please ensure that you enter a MRN before trying to export the data. The monitor may refuse data requests unless a MRN number is filled. Mindray HL7 data export via LAN has been tested succesfully and verified with the VSCaptureCLI app and Mindray uMEC12 monitor.

Use the LAN1 IP settings and manually set the IP address after connecting a crossover LAN cable to your laptop ethernet port. Ensure it is on the same subnet and uses the correct gateway (usually left blank for direct comnection). Alternative is to set IP after sharing the LAN port of your laptop via Wifi. This enables monitor to get the router DHCP assigned IP. For these Mindray models, no additional software may be needed. The app directly requests data using the PDS Gateway protocol.
