In Mac OS X or Linux, you can "replay" the monitor binary serial stream using the .raw file generated by VSCapture, by creating pseudoterminals using socat and minicom packages. In the terminal use these example commands: socat -d -d pty,link=/tmp/virtualcom0,ispeed=19200,ospeed=19200,raw,mode=660 pty,link=/tmp/virtualcom1,ispeed=19200,ospeed=19200,raw,mode=660 Send the .raw file using minicom: minicom -D /tmp/virtualcom1 Connect VSCapture app to /tmp/virtualcom0 in serial port options and run the...

Hi Romas, As mentioned in this thread, a specific older ATEN chipset VID 0x0557 is needed for GE Carescape B650 USB RS232 data export. VSCapture doesn't support the LAN port as it runs on a different protocol ?GE Sapphire network. I have not tried if changing the network type to MC or S/5 may have any effect on the LAN. One of the users from Germany shared this link to an older ATEN cable that worked for him: https://www.conrad.com/en/p/aten-usb-1-1-adapter-1x-d-sub-plug-9-pin-1x-usb-1-1-connector-a-uc232a-at-989235.html...

Could you explain, please, how you configure port and Capture data from ethernet with VSCapture software? Another question, GE B650 is not able to send data using its ethernet port, so I can capture it with VSCapture? Thank you

Yes I'm using the Serial USB ATEN to Ethernet path. I bought a couple of "old chipsets" ATEN converters form EBay they are working fine. If you look for e.g. Win 7 ready that should be an old one (good old times)

Hi Avinash, Please try the latest version of VSCaptureCLI from this site and check if this happens. Are you using RS232 MIB or LAN port? The LAN option is better for capturing high resolution data due to better bandwidth during rapid data transfer. In serial cables, FTDI chipset cables may be better. Please email me details of your setup and company to xeonfusion at yahoo dot com for further support. Regards, John.

Try Central station or ADT network setup as in Pg 66 of the operator's manual. https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/ZLZ-WMTSN1/5287411.pdf#page66 Some of the options are to send unsolicited HL7 data to a server (not the option we want), but what the app actually requests is the solicited HL7 message. For these Mindray models, no additional software may be needed. The app directly requests data using the PDS Gateway protocol.

Frequency depends on waveform (ECG has higher). For RR, it's probably a 16 sample array with sampling time of 16 msec and around 62.5 samples/sec. You can check manually the actual samples a second in your CSV file.

Hi Samuli, The first column in the Intellivue CSV export corresponds to monitor reported time, second column to monitor reported relative time and third to the System local time (of PC). Therefore, it is recommended to use the first or second columns to plot the actual time of the data generation (third time is affected by local CPU processing). There's no need to average the data. It's better to use the LAN port if possible to collect data reliably for any study. The sampling frequency depends on...

For GE S/5 Carescape monitors, that require connection via the USB port, I have wondered if anyone has tried using a direct USB to USB null modem cable https://ftdichip.com/products/usb-nmc-2-5m/. This way, one may not have to hook up a usb serial to a DB9 null modem cable, in turn hooked up to the PC side usb serial cable. But the chipset may have to be PL2303 based due to driver support on the monitor side.

If it was previously connected to a central station, it may be better to restart the device, then set the IP address manually, make sure you are on the same subnet mask. Once you sort out the IP network issues, it should work.

If the monitor was previously connected to the hospital network but I disconnected it and connected it to my computer should there be any issue? I found the DHCP IP address defined in the monitor and used it, but it was the same when connected to the hospital network.

  • John George John George posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

Make sure that the monitor is free of any other association, its IP address should be valid too. Internet sharing is for sharing your Wifi connection to your LAN port. In this way, the monitor connected to your LAN port (straight cable) gets a DHCP assigned IP address. You can also alternatively, assign an IP address manually to your LAN port settings in your OS (may work with a crosswire cable).

I am afraid that the problem comes from the handshake between the computer and the monitor, I noticed that VSCapture does not send a message until the handshake is done, that could be the cause why a lot of people are getting problems with the communication with this monitor. The app uses a command response serial communication with S/5 Datex protocol. There might be a cable issue if you are not getting data ouput. As mentioned in another thread, you also have to set the monitor data ouput to S/5 protocol and not the Carescape protocol.

  • John George John George posted a comment on discussion General Discussion

Thanks John. We have some PL2303 cables as well which also goce no results . Are there any settings on the monitor that could stop it transmitting? I have looked everywhere I can and can't see anything

One of the users from Germany shared this link to an online store (not verified) for the ATEN cable: The specific Model No is: UC-232A with the SN ZE8-040BP-2477 https://www.conrad.com/en/p/aten-usb-1-1-adapter-1x-d-sub-plug-9-pin-1x-usb-1-1-connector-a-uc232a-at-989235.html

There's a discussion about a similar issue with the change of chipsets (in an unrelated forum) corresponding to this vendor ID https://picaxeforum.co.uk/threads/ot-pl2303-with-different-vendor-id.25834/. These IDs may actually refer to PL2303 (Prolific) chipset based cables that are common in the market and not as good as the FTDI chipset based cables. You could try using PL2303 cables to see if it might work but the GE recommended cable is ATEN UC232A.

hi John. I hadn't considered asking ATEN actually - that's a good idea. I had hoped maybe GE had released new firmware that may have included more drivers but can't see anything.

Hi David, GE B650 monitors seem to have in built drivers only for the specific ATEN UC232A serial cable with chipset vendor ID 0x0557. Not sure if any other FTDI chipset based cable will work short of updating the monitor hardware (if thats even possible), trial and error. Have you tried contacting the manufacturer ATEN directly for the order? Example (doesn't specify the chipset): https://www.aten.com/global/en/products/usb-solutions/converters/uc232a/

hi all, we have recently taken delivery of a number of refurbished GE Carescape B650s and we are trying to record ecg data as we do on our old S/5 monitors I have read (I think) all of the treads on this and have just read the one which details that the ATEN usb-serial cable must have a specific hardware ID (which is now discontinued). The ATEN cable we boight via the links on the discussions has a hardware ID of VID 067B Is there any way that the B650 can be updated or is there any other way of...

Hi Evgenii, I am very interested in these documents. I was wondering if you could share these two documents with me. Thanks,

The author of EDFbrowser also provided this sample conversion template (attached) to convert CSV files generated by VSCapture into EDF files. The tool used to import CSV data is the ASCII to EDF conversion menu option under the Tools menu in EDFbrowser. A general guide for the conversion can be found here: https://www.teuniz.net/edfbrowser/EDFbrowser%20manual.html#ASCII_to_EDF_converter

Hi Alicia, There are many options. For general visualization of CSV data, use the scatter plot tool in MS Excel or similar tools. For more detailed analysis, researchers have used MATLAB, R, javascript or Python based software https://opensource.com/article/20/4/plot-data-python. It may also be possible to import CSV data into tools like EDFbrowser. https://www.teuniz.net/edfbrowser/ Regards, John.

Hello there, I am currently using VS capture to obtain ECG data from Datex s3 and S5 devices. However, I have been unable to visualize the data in order to interpret it afterwards. I was wondering if anyone has successfully visualised ECG data using this method and whether someone could provide me with some guidance or assistance. Best regards, Alicia.

Now I tries to reconstruct protocol Datex S/5 in a part of alarms transmission. I have some protocol dumps, I tries to recognize rules and structures

I just post this for anyone in the future who wants get data out of the philips MR400, I was able to use the Express data output format describe in the two document to get numeric data at 1Hz. Altough I was hoping to also record waveforms, these does not seem to be possible at the moment.

In VSCaptureWave source code I found public const short DRI_MT_ALARM = 4; //Alarm data and related transmission requests. It is data packed main type. I plan to send DRI_MT_ALARM for monitoring and investigate his response.
