The i/o plugin API is currently undergoing a state of flux. Since we have not even reached the first idea of a release this should not be a problem. Any comments or design tips you may have on the API are strongly encouraged!

I have been working on this for the past few nights and I will be submittind my changes back to the cvs in the next few days.
