You can use a program that came with vncsnapshot to generate a password file for windows. Download this http://vncsnapshot.sourceforge.net/ and use the vncpasswd program to generate a password file that will work in windows. Hi, I agree vnc2swf is awesome I liked it so much that I started to create a gui The gui created in c# will have the following features 1. Allows you to set the connection on a client and start the recording on a server remotely. 2. Allows you to use windows login and still be able to record. 3. Allows you to change the target recording server remotely. 4. Allows to change the recording options screen video etc 5. Password protect the settings on the client 6. Has a built in timer to prevent the swf video files from reaching over 16000 frames see this line for more information on frames http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14437 7. Date and time stamp for each recording based off a name you select. 8. Auto launch the vnc viewer 7.a help doc that shows how to use the program and its features + a method to uncorrupt corrupted swf videos. When I get time I hope to port the program to mono so linux users can use it too! I'll be posting the program, which is 90% complete, in the next month or so to www.thshdwknws.net I have not finished the program yet so I have not setup the web site, nothing on the site yet, but check it soon. This is a great program and I was amazed about how a VNC server and a python script could do so much in a few clicks. I plan on using vnc2swf to make tutorials that I can post onto my web site in the near future. My question to you is: "How long did it take to figure something like this out?" To me it looks like it would take quite some time to create such a complex program like this. Anyway, congratulations on a well-made, easy to use program. Yokudekimashita Yusukesan! |

Greetings, I have downloaded the latest version of pyvnc2swf (pyvnc2swf-0.9.1), and have installed Python 2.3.5 and pygame 1.6-2, VNC and a viewer. When I try to run py2vnc.py, I get the following: don@don:~/Desktop/pyvnc2swf-0.9.1$ python vnc2swf.py File "vnc2swf.py", line 294 ext = dict( (t,ext) for (_,t,desc,ext) in self.FILE_TYPES )[self.outtype] ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax don@don:~/Desktop/pyvnc2swf-0.9.1$ I am using Debian Sarge 3.1r4. What have I got wrong? Can anyone help? Don Robertson Systems Administrator Hun Sen Library Royal University of Phnom Penh |

I apologize if this was received twice. I sent a similar message on Friday, but I don't see it posted so I think it might have gotten lost. I sent that message before subscribing to the list, which might be the problem also. I'm trying to use vnc2swf on a server running windows XP. I'd like to have vnc2swf record screen captures from a couple machines at once. I start off by starting 2 instances of vnc2swf. After some investigating I've found out that all instances of vnc2swf after the first don't actually record, they have an error because they are trying to open and write to the same temp file that the first instance is using. They appear to be recording though because you can save the .swf file after you stop it, but that .swf file will be the exact same as what the first instance of vnc2swf recorded. Is there any way to specify where the temp file is written, or to force the temp file to have a semi-random name? |

Hello Yusuke , you are right I didnt have python installed, well I did that now, but it still doesnt seem to work. I have done as u told me, installed it and associated the files with python as u can see. I have also renamed vnc2swf.pyw to vnc2swf.py in order to do the dos prompt http://www.rechtsrat-jetzt.de/s2.bmp but now i just get an empy screen and some wired compiled pythn files, see: http://www.rechtsrat-jetzt.de/s3.bmp I really appreciate that u are spending time giving me support. Once I get this done I will get a link to ur site, but have u got any more ideas of what I could be doing wrong? Thanks. Looking at the title of the window, it seems like you were actually running "winvnc4.exe" instead of Python interpreter, because ".pyw" file is associated with WinVNC. I don't know why this is it... But wait, did you really install Python? I see other ".py" files are not associated with Python either, although they should've been. If you've already installed Python and still having the problem, here are a couple of things you can do: 1. Uninstall and try to reinstall the latest version of Python. 2. Could you try to associate that file with "pythonw" or "python"? 3. Go to the dos prompt, and type "python vnc2swf.py". Yusuke |

Hi, I am a bit if a newbie, but fascinated by the idea of vnc2swf, sadly the program doesnt start. whenever i run it, and i followed the video on how to install it closely, the dos interface just opens several line run past, and that's is. I got a screenshot of the lines which run past fast, and the lines are just descrition stuff, so i cant really give u an error message.... Running pync2swf-0.9.1 on Win XP RNC SERVER 4.1.2 any ideas? I really like vnc2swf and it's a great product. I'm trying to use it in a Windows environment and running it remotely using pstools. The only problem is that the only way to stop the recording is by giving the Ctrl-C command, which I can't really do. Is it possible to send another command to stop the recording? Another possibility would be to kill the vnc2swf process, but if I do that, the swf file appears to be corrupt, because it doesn't play in Firefox anymore. Anything else I can do to stop the recording remotely? Lehel |

Luis, I have been really busy these days, and couldn't have a time to look into it. Okay, partly because I'm not an active user of vnc2swf right now...
