I run a tightvnc v1.3.9 client from a win2k laptop (1280x800) to an ubuntu 7.10 gnome system (1600x1200), I believe the server is vino, v2.20. Viewport pan of the tightvnc client over the larger xwindows screen is usually quite fast. However, occasionally, after some time (perhaps a few hours) the pan will suddenly slow considerably.

I can go to another system in the house and pan is normal, so I don't believe it is a problem on the server end.

None of restarting vncclient, killing memory hogs (eg firefox), logging out and back in, have any effect on the problem. A reboot will fix it.

Other performance aspects (mouse movement, window updates) seem unaffected.

Encoding is set to tight, jpeg and copyrect enabled, but I recollect having experimented with hextile to no particular avail.

Laptop is 1.5ghz deCeleron, 512MB, Intel 915 graphics
Desktop is a Semprom 3300+, 512MB, NVidia GE4400 graphics

If I can do anything to help troubleshoot this, please ask.

Thank you
