I am connecting to my Windows 11 laptop via TightVNC. Unfortunately, when I close the lid, I immediately get a black screen in the TightVNC Viewer. The slave laptop is configured so that nothing happens when the lid is closed. Is it a bug? I can operate the slave laptop remotedly with the closed lid via Chrome remote desktop., although using the browser is less convenient than the TightVNC Viewer.
There are a couple of ways around this issue. One way is to use a dummy plug. That's the method I prefer. Another way, which is a workaround, is to "break" the ACPI lid driver by installing a non-functional driver in its place. See here (and scroll down that thread to see an example of a dummy plug): https://superuser.com/a/1504519/228898
