Hello Jiajing,
 we need to understand what part of the chains of modules your interpreter gets stuck at.
Try entering the python shell and writing
import vtk
Please let me know if you get any errors.
If this succeeds, try with
from vmtk import vmtkimagereader
and let me know about any errors.
