Sorry for the delay. The program is made to send the html file to the default web browser. Maybe you don't have a default web browser? Look for a file named Report-(name of report).html.
no I do not get anything generated in my web browser. I used to. I use firefox. I do know that Firefox recently updated the root certificate for the browser. I'm unsure if I successfully updated the browser or not. it still works for generally surfing the web. is it possible this problem could be caused by a root certificate error? I'm not getting any error messages, it is just a blank window in the browser.
I confirm this error with my personal file, so I'll troubleshoot on my end. My report is still sent to my web browser and is complete in spite of VMT finishing at about 10% for me. Do you see a complete report in your web browser?
The report feature works as expected for short date ranges, such as a few months. It will generate reports for any property, fuel records, or maintenance records, etc. The only problem that just started is that when the time span is sent to 12 months (Jan 1 - Dec 31) it just gets stuck (at either 10% or 53%, etc). The version I use is 2.4.5 Kernel: 6.8.0-51-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A Desktop: Cinnamon 5.4.12 tk: GTK 3.24.33 wm: Mutter dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 21 Vanessa base: Ubuntu...
Hey sorry for the long wait. I just checked this now. All working now. I updated my java setup and program starts. I then deleted the null() entry, saved the current info and all good. I did lose some backups but not to worry. I can re-enter the information again.
I'm not sure what null entry you deleted. Did you edit the data file directly? Did you try reopening a backup file? Backup files are in the same directory as your primary file and numbered 1, 2, 3, etc. You can remove the period and number at the end to make it easy to open the backup file.
Hi Found this program during my Google search for a vehicle database for maintenance and repairs etc. Started adding info - all good. Then generated a report - all good - except the null() entry shows - not good So I deleted that null() entry and now the .jar file won't start. See console output below: jave@ryzen9:~/3640GB/Documents/Vehicle_Maintenance_DBs$ java -jar VMT_2.4.5.jar Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at java.base/java.lang.StringBuffer.<init>(StringBuffer.java:156)...
Good morning and thank you for your help. I did exactly as you said and it all works seamlessly now. Thanks so much!! As for the posts, I may have logged in over the weekend using a VPN...that could trigger the site to flag posts from "bad" locations. Have a great day!
This post was also flagged. I removed the file from the post so it wasn't accessible publicly. I kept a copy for now in case we need to continue our discussion. The files with a numeric extension are backup files with ".1" being the most recent. I recommend copying the ".1" file as the main VMT file and opening that. You would have lost your most recent edits, but not the whole database. I have the program default to backing up the 5 most recent sessions, but a user can alter this in the preferences....
Somehow this post was flagged for approval and I wasn't notified. Sorry for the delay. This smaller file is corrupt and unusable. I couldn't open it in a standard ZIP program. I suggest switching to a backup file.
thank you for your timely reply. do not take it personal, the program works great normally, its just really awful timing for it to suddenly crash. I have actually five files created by this program. I never understood why since, when you use the file>open command, it only shows one of them to choose. I have uploaded that file.
the first file I posted is only 33 bytes....the next file is "my vehicle maintenance log.vmt.1" It has the same last modified date and it is 4.3mb. the other files are older and are named incrementally up to "vmt.5" with 5 being the oldest file. I attached the the next file to this post.
I wonder if this started happening with a change in the Java version. I'm not having any issues currently, so maybe the file wasn't fully written. Please email me your file so I can try to troubleshoot.
another error file
the problem I have has become incredibly frustrating. Suddenly the program will NOT open any of the files. I can open them with archive manager and view the data as a text file. When I attempt to open the files from the program it just does nothing. I have tried to download another instance of the program and use that, but I got the same result. I attached the error log to this post. I need access years of data in order file my taxes so this is very frustrating.
While there's no direct export feature stated, it does contain the ability to export to HTML by printing a report. The HTML file can be saved from your web browser and imported into a spreadsheet program. CSV export won't work due to the limited ability of the format.
Welcome back. how about a CSV export as well?
I'm sitting on another mid release that has a few more additions and some bug fixes as well as some revamping of GUI in preparation for use as a mobile app. I want to do more before releasing it.

Any chance on getting an exsport function export to csv
Any change on the product? How about an export function?
