Hi,

I was trying to setup vmpsd on a x86 box running Solaris 10. I have been unable to do so since the vmpsd server does not seem to be sending back the right response. When I run the vmpsd server with the -l 0x807 log level in non daemon mode I see the following:

VQP Request
Unknown: 1
Request Type: 1
Response: 0
No. Data Items: 6
Sequence No.: 449
Client IP address: 10.8.8.101
Port name: Gi1/0/4
Vlan name: --NONE--
Domain name: unon
MAC address: 0016411559f6
ALLOW: 0016411559f6 -> icts, switch 10.8.8.101 port Gi1/0/4

Of particular interest is the 'Vlan name: --NONE--' entry. I then compiled the code on a Sparc running Solaris 9 and the vmpsd server performed flawlessly. I then tries it on an x86 running Solaris 9 and again it performed flawlessly. The o/p in both cases was:

VQP Request
Unknown: 1
Request Type: 1
Response: 0
No. Data Items: 6
Sequence No.: 337
Client IP address: 10.8.8.101
Port name: Gi1/0/4
Vlan name: icts
Domain name: unon
MAC address: 0016411559f6
ALLOW: 0016411559f6 -> icts, switch 10.8.8.101 port Gi1/0/4

I then ran the binary that was compiled on the X86 running Solaris 9 on a x86 box running Solaris 10 (the first box) but again ran into the same problem!! Debug again shows --NONE-- next to Vlan name

Do you know of any issue with running vmpsd on a Solaris 10 x86 box?

Seasons greetings and a very prosperous and happy new year

    Hi Suresh,

    Are you still having problems with this? I have contributed to the development of this product in the past, but do not currently use it. I do have access to a Solaris 10 X86 system and a Cisco 2950 to try it out if you wish.

    Upon further reflection, this listing of --NONE-- is from the VQP request, which reflects information from the switch. If you tell the switch to reconfirm the port, you should see a request containing icts, like the solaris sparc one logs.
