The simplest solution at this moment is to use the beta version of 
Visual, which uses numpy and seems to work mostly fine on Linux (there 
are serious problems on Windows). Go to the "Recent developments" 
section of vpython.org. Sounds like I should put something about this 
new development on the regular Linux download page.
