VisibleResults 2.0.4 released

VisibleResults 2.0.4 is now available on Sourceforge, including a Windows installable version. This release consists of a number of bug fixes, plus a parser for the new Swedish AutoGiro file format.

Please refer the README file if you are installing for the first time.

If you are upgrading from a previous 2.0.x version, the "visibleresults-2.0.4-windows-upgrade-from-2.0.x.zip" file can be extracted to the VisibleResults installation directory to overwrite what is there with the changed files.

VisibleResults 2.0.2 released

VisibleResults 2.0.2 is now available for download.

This consists mainly of bug fixes. The database tables have also changed, this is done automatically when starting VisibleResults after the upgrade, details are in the README. If you are using the installer, the supplied databases will be upgraded already.

The visibleresults-2.0.2-windows-upgrade-from-2.0.x.zip file can be extracted to the VisibleResults installation directory to overwrite what is there with the changed files.

Data History/Audit

Wow! A really cool new feature has been added.

Using the XMLDDL tool we can now generate history tables automatically and the triggers to update them.

Any Database table marked for auditing will automatically have an audit table created. This holds all old versions of rows, so after every update or delete a new row version is added to the audit table.

It is all automatic yet completely controlled (the XML database definition controlls which tables this happens to).... read more

Anonymous CVS works!

At last Sourceforge have fixed the anonymous cvs access to VisibleResults.

Click the cvs link from the project home page for details. But in summary it says this:

This project's SourceForge CVS repository can be checked out through anonymous (pserver) CVS with the following instruction set. The module you wish to check out must be specified as the modulename. When prompted for a password for anonymous, simply press the Enter key.... read more

Welcome to new developers

Just a quick welcome to Mike and Guy who are both now "official" developers. I am defining this as programmers who have code commited into the project.

Note for anyone checking CVS, these have been checked in using my ID due to SourceForge problems with new accounts.

Simplified building and Running

The ANT build scripts have been made more powerful and also simpler. Normally you can start at the end of the chain (ui-wm) and type

ant fullcompile

This will cause all the parent projects to be compiled and will also generate all the source code for database access.

Then to start the web server for testing. Also in the ui-wm project type

ant run

All you need then is to open the url

http;//localhost:8080/org.visres.uiwm.VrServlet ... read more

visibleresults-cvs mailing list is active

Thanks to erik the VisibleResults-cvs list now automatically gets all the commit messages.

So anytime anyone changes anything in the source code the change will be emailed to this mailing list.

Now any bad commit comments or total lack of them will be really obvious.

SourceForge issues

Due to continuing problems that SourceForge have with their last update currently anonymous cvs is not working and also cvs access for new members is not working.

While this is the case I can email cvs snapshots to anyone interested and will make some snapshots available by ftp.

Tools Update

There are 4 tools that are built within the vrweb cvs module.

- utility. General classes that are widely used. Not going to grow very large.

- dbmsl. Our database layer. Very clean and light, can be used in small bits as it all works with the standard java.sql classes

- xmlddl. Uses an xml database definition. Generates sql script to create the database and also html documentation of the database design.... read more
