    Hi

As per the information available from the Ruby and Rails reference guides and support forums, you can run rails applications in windows machines using installer packages (Rails Installer Package), but not in an optimized way. Here are some information we got from several sources to show why windows is not recommended for Rails applications:

Ruby and Rails are slower on Windows than they are on Unix-like OS's.
Once you have the server up and running on windows, it's not terribly slow, but the rails rake tasks may take very long time to run
There are gems ( e.g. unicorn-rails - A rack based gem) that do not work with windows, but we need to check whether it matters in our product for the gems we have used
Support for Rails applications in Windows is very low as most of the Rails applications run in Linux & MAC OS's

Anyway, VirtualX will run in Windows for sure, but to check the compatibility & performance issues both locally and at the server side, you should do an analysis for the same. We could also do it, but it comes with a support charge. If you are interested contact us at enquiries@pitsolutions.com
    Hope our answer helped.

    Best Regards
    VirtualX team
