TurboVNC by it self would be an improvement for me in the short term. Long
term, I will eventually want to add VirtualGL, but my concerns right now are
related to security issues. I'll have to wait to resolve these when I have
more time.

 That does't have any effect for me.
$ rpm -q mesa-libGL
mesa-libGL-6.5.1-7.7.el5

I'm on Centos 5 and don't seem to have mesa-glx nor can I find it or
mesa-swx in the standard repos.  Any suggestions?
