A production release of VirtualGL has been created to address issues submitted by beta testers in the Linux community. Thanks to all who responded to the call and helped significantly improve the quality of VGL. 1.0 binary packages are available at the following link: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=117509&package_id=127953 for the following platforms: -- Enterprise Linux 2.1/RedHat 7.x -- Enterprise Linux 3/RedHat 8 & 9/Fedora 1 & 2 (64- and 32-bit) -- Enterprise Linux 4/Fedora 3 & 4 (64- and 32-bit) -- Windows XP [client only] Additionally, a SRPM is now available which will allow those on other RPM-based platforms to rebuild VirtualGL from source. See the documentation for instructions. Significant changes since 0.9.4: -- x86-64 RPM now contains both 32-bit and 64-bit server libraries as well as the VGL client. The VirtualGL64 add-on has been deprecated. -- Added ability to build VGL from pristine source and generate SRPMs -- Put TurboJPEG into separate RPM to allow VGL to be rebuilt easily on platforms for which binaries aren't supplied -- Changed linkage of librrfaker.so so that apps which dynamically load libGL can be made to work -- Calling GLX 1.3 functions through JOGL now works (VGL now properly intercepts and handles glXGetProcAddressARB) -- Fixed memory leak in Linux client -- Fixed a couple of minor app-specific bugs and a couple of bugs specific to running on Enterprise Linux 4 -- 1.0 client no longer barfs when 2.0 server connects with stereo enabled Where applicable, these changes have been migrated forward into the 2.0 dev tree and are now available in the CVS head. A web page has been added to the VirtualGL web-site listing applications known to work (those tested by myself or by the community at large.) Darrell |
