What happens when you place your cursor over any point in the YAP window. It should print out the source specials information in the lower right corner of the window. Something like: Theoretical.tex L:20 or something similar. Make sure that the file name being displayed there has the correct extension. I just tested with the latest release and things seem to be working fine for me... Srinath |

OS windows XP I followed the instruction on http://vim-latex.sourceforge.net/documentation/latex-suite-quickstart.html#l sq-viewing-dvi But when I double-click anywhere in the viewer window, nothing is shown in the Vim window except a line ":let g:Remote_Server = 1" shown at the bottom. Hi, I have vim-latex installed. It is working perfectly. However, I want to re-map the command EFI, which inserts a figure template. For that, I have added the following line in $VIM/ftplugin/tex.vim: call IMAP ('EFI', "\\begin{figure} \\centering\<CR>\\includegraphics[width=\\columnwidth]{<+file+>}\<CR>\\caption{<++>}\<CR>\\label{<++>}\<CR>\\end{figure}\<CR><++>", 'tex') The line works if I chose something which is not pre-defined by vim-latex, e.g. "call IMAP ('EEE', ...)", but as it is written above, still vim-latex's pre-defined template is inserted. How can I re-map EFI for my own purpose? Thanks for any hint! Claus PS: I know, this is a user question, but there is only the devel list available for vim-latex. |

Then make a new ftplugin/tex/texviewer.vim which contains something like this: ---- start ftplugin/tex/texviewer.vim ----- if g:Tex_DontRemoveTempFiles finish endif augroup TexRemoveTempFiles au VimLeave * :silent! call delete(expand('<sfile>:p')) augroup END ---- end ftplugin/tex/texviewer.vim ----- This essentially means that ftplugin/tex/texviewer.vim essentially removes itself (suicide?) when latex-suite first runs and then the user exits. This means no more code addition in main.vim... The initial "if g:Tex_DontRemoveTempFiles" is just so I can set g:Tex_DontRemoveTempFiles to ensure that the file doesn't keep dissapearing from my hard-disk when I do testing. I think I'll use this strategy. Srinath |

Once trying to figure out some function of latex-suite I was looking at all the files and was surprised to find an empty multicompile.vim. I thought that I had somehow downloaded a corrupt installation and it took some time to realize that no other file sources multicompile.vim. Having a comment saying that it is no longer needed would have been useful. Aditya -- Aditya Mahajan, EECS Systems, University of Michigan http://www.eecs.umich.edu/~adityam || Ph: 7342624008 |

Actually, one of the files in the present latex-suite (ftplugin/latex-suite/multicompile.vim) is presently just an empty file. I cannot see how echoing a warning asking the user to remove the file will help because we put the file there in the first place... And the empty file might remain there for the next few point releases to make the transition smoother, thus irritating the user with a warning each time he updates latex-suite... Hmm... What about this? Maybe have a little function in ftplugin/latex-suite/main.vim which actually removes the original files if it sees them. Hmm... This seems promising. 1. Have the zip file overwrite the original file with an empty file. 2. Have a little function in main.vim which checks for the existence of the original file (which should now be empty). --> If found, then delete it. If there is an error in deletion, give an error message. The problem with this approach is that this will mean that main.vim will have a little bit of extra computation every time... As far as the package on Debian goes, Artur can just use the latest CVS. I have noticed that doing an "apt-get install" will remove files which are not needed automatically... Is this right? I am hesitant to follow Artur's suggestion of creating an executable which will delete the files because creating executables which will work uniformly on all the zillion platforms is a huge undertaking, no matter how simple the task. Hello, I am wondering if there is a good way of dealing with files in vim-latex which have moved from one directory to another during some recent changes. To be more precise, in one of the recent changes, the file ftplugin/tex/texviewer.vim was moved to ftplugin/latex-suite/texviewer.vim If we create a .zip file with the latest file locations, then if a user downloads and unzips that file, then he will have both the files on disk. How to get around this? In the worst case, we could instruct the user to manually remove tex/texviewer.vim and tex/brackets.vim and then proceed to unzip the latest vim-latex archive. But I am wondering if there is a way in which the deletion can be made to occur automatically? This issue is presently holding up making the next release. Srinath |

Yes, there is a way to type =E9 (<Alt-i>) Unfortunately, its still not documented. Use the following in ~/.vim/ftplugin/tex.vim or any other file which gets sourced _before_ latex-suite: imap <buffer> <somekey> <Plug>Tex_InsertItemOnThisLine Replace <somekey> with the key combination which you want to use to generate the functionality which <M-i> does. It basically inserts an \item command corresponding to the last environment. If you do not want this functionality at all, use <Plug>DeadKeys instead of <somekey> > Ps : I find your work very usefull and I thank you for all your > work. > Thanks! Srinath |

Hello, I work under Debian sarge. I am very bored with the vim-latex-suite version 0.20031216 because I can\'t use tht letter \"é\". I used well with the previous versions but not with this new one. Is there a solution to work with this simple letter ??? Ps : I find your work very usefull and I thank you for all your work. |

I want to ask: Do You know something about preparing TeX-Suite? I mean vim plugins to compile with TeX: with TeX inputs, macros and help. Thanks You! |
