Hi, I am using GVIM 7.0 + Miktex. This installation had some hiccups. GVIM complains at the startup which disappears too quickly to make sense. Other than that the latex menus and compilation seems to work. The debugging is not working. Nothing happens when i press enter on the error line in the "error window". Thanks sandeep |

Hello, I'm very fond of vim latex, I use it for 4 months and the only thing that disturb me is not to have a "comment/uncomment" command. I tried to think on how to implent it in a macro but I didn't found. Do you have any idea on it ? Hi I've been learning latex-suite quite happily for a week or so, with much success. Something has gone wrong though, and I can't work out what. I have started a new file (file1 say) to test things, adding just a couple of sections and two "\label"s. When I type \ref{sec: and hit F9, I first get lots of error messages (something like E121:invalidCiteFile, and E15 something -- they flash by too qickly to read), then a list of labels from another file!! This other file, file2.tex was even in a different directory! If I close my file1.tex, and open again, I no longer the references to file2, but no references to file1 either. If I open up file2.tex, close it, and then edit file1.tex, I get back to F9 giving references to file2.tex. Help appreciated! Dave |

Since joining the list and posting my question, I have discovered the message archive and that this problem has been raised before by Tobias Wolf and others. Apologies if this is a simple question, by I am new to Vim and Latex-suite. I am using Gvim 7.0 on Win XP Pro, with the latest version of Latex-suite, and compiling Latex using Miktex 2.5. My problem is that when I compile, the errors/warnings appear in the quickfix list but the log preview is empty, and pressing enter on an error in the quickfix list does nothing. I think the problem may lie in that Vim is trying to open the log file from my root directory (hence it being blank) rather than from the correct place, i.e. the same directory where the .tex file sits. I tried setting g:Tex_GotoError=0, and then the log file DOES open correctly after compiling, but as soon as I try to select an error on the quickfix list then Vim looks again for the log file in the root directory (consequently the bottom window shows the new blank file) and the jump-to-error doesn't work. Any help on how I could fix this would be much appreciated Thanks, S |

Dear All, there is a PDFView program, that supports pdfsync. It is possible to use the feature from vim-latex. On \ls PDFView jumps to the correct page. Backward serach does not work, since vim lacks remote control capability on Mac. Just FUI. May be there are better solutions? I have the following ~/.vim/after/ftplugin/tex.vim ---------- function! Tex_ForwardSearchLaTeX() if &ft != 'tex' echo "calling Tex_ViewLaTeX from a non-tex file" return end let mainfnameRoot = fnamemodify(Tex_GetMainFileName(), ':p:r') let execString = 'silent! !osascript -e '''. \ "tell application \"PDFView\" \\\n". \ " display tex line ".line('.')." of file \"".mainfnameRoot.".pdf\" \\\n". \ "end tell". \ ''' &' call Tex_Debug("Tex_ForwardSearchLaTeX: execString = ".execString, "comp") execute execString if !has('gui_running') redraw! endif endfunction let g:Tex_ViewRule_pdf = 'PDFView' ---------- Sincerely, Michail |

Dear All, I have been experiencing this problem recently after I upgraded my MikTeX from 2.4 to 2.5. After compiling with \ll to dvi, I can open the dvi file with \lv, but if I chance something in my tex file and compile it again I get an error message that: I can't write on file `mythesis.dvi'. Emergency Stop. I didn't have this problem before. Now, before every compilation I have to go to Yap and close the DVI file first. This is so awkward. This problem was known to be present with PDF files, but it was due to the locking of files by Acrobat. That problem by itself was cumbersome enough, and now I have the same problem with DVI files. Has anybody had a similar experience? And is there a solution to it? Regards, Hooman |

Hi all, thank you for your help. The completion in VIM 7 is not working, if there are some space chars in the path to tex files. Seems to be a bug or not? Hi Stephan I have had this problem and I struggled with for some time. Here is my experience with it. Some of might be irrelevant, but it is the configuration that I come up with that works: 1. Install Vim in a directory which doesn't have a space in its name. My choice is: C:\Vim. 2. Install Python in a similar folder. C:\Python should work. 3. Install GNUGrep in a folder without a space in its name. These three precautions solved my problem and for me F9 works perfectly. Try these steps. Most likely it will solve your problem. Hi all, I'm very sorry to disturb you again with this topic, but I don't manage to get the completion running. I'm using the latex-suite and vim 7 on a Windows XP System. I installed GNUGrep and added this line to my _vimrc: set grepprg=grep\ -nH\ $* When I'm in a \ref-command and press F9, there appears the __OUTLINE__ window, but it's empty. I'm lost. Does anyone have some ideas, what's going wrong on my system? Or do you need some more information? Thanks for your help in advance. Greetz, Stephan |

Finally I used the <Ctrl> key as it's proposed at the following question of the FAQ. Probably better to group both questions in one as writed below, is any chance that an administrator of the web-site change it ? Corentin <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Help e-<acute> and other european letters doesn't work !!! To cut off the problem quickly, insert the following lines in your ~/.vim/ftplugin/tex.vim file (you may have to create it) : imap <C-i> <Plug>Tex_InsertItemOnThisLine imap <C-b> <Plug>Tex_MathBF imap <C-c> <Plug>Tex_MathCal imap <C-l> <Plug>Tex_LeftRight It frees <=E9> <=E2> and others and allow <Ctrl> +<i> to insert a \item ; <Ctrl>+<b> to insert a \mathbf{ } ; <Ctrl>+<c> to insert a \cite{} and <Ctrl> +<l> to insert \label{ } If you want to change the keys for this shortcuts, just replace <C> with any other key-sequence. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< 2006/12/6, Luc Hermitte <her...@fr...>: > Hello, > > * On Mon, Dec 04, 2006 at 06:53:05PM +0100, corentin barbu <corentin.barb= u...@gm...> wrote: > > Finally it works. Finally it works. But I can no more access to the "\item" facility with <Alt-i> this key make an "=E9" ?!?. I have putted the following line in ~/.vim/ftplugin/tex.vim : imap <buffer> <Alt-i> <Plug>Tex_InsertItemOnThisLine Any idea ? Otherway, I sugest to modify that way the faq (which is mainly for french people I think) : Insert the following line in your ~/.vim/ftplugin/tex.vim file (you may have to create it) : imap <buffer> <leader>it <Plug>Tex_InsertItemOnThisLine Replace <leader>it with any other key-sequence (for example <Alt-i>). This should make <leader>it key (in the example key <Alt> and key <i>) insert an \item command corresponding to the last opened environment in the current line in insert mode. The <=E9> key which is used for inserting the e-acute character will remain unmapped and able to produce this letter. I've found that typing <Alt-i> works, I get that way a "\item" but the e-<acute> remains a "\item" despite what is told in the faq. Hi all, I just wanted to write a short email to the list about what I have been up to. First off, I am sorry that I haven't been active at all for the last several months. I have been going through a turbulent period. First off, the good news is that I finally finished my PhD from Berkeley (I am now a fake doctor) and presently employed at the Mathworks, the makers of MATLAB and Simulink. All of this has kept me immensely busy for the last many months as you might imagine. I therefore, completely dropped off the software world. However, I am now "settled" into my job and have fallen into a regular schedule. I am going to start maintaining vim-latex once again. I hope that it continues to be of use to people. Now that I am no longer a graduate student, I have to be a bit more systematic about dividing time between work and voluntary vim-latex maintenance. For the short term, I want to migrate vim-latex to vim7. I will hopefully soon have a version which works with vim7 and takes advantage of some of vim7's features. I would like help beta-testing it etc. It does rely a bit heavily on vim being built with python support. I will keep you updated... Please have patience while I get back into the game. Thanks, Srinath |

In an earlier post I described how I could also fix my problem by modifying the ~/.vim/ftplugin/latex-suite/main.vim file. I can send you that diff if you don't have it. Hmm, I seem to be having this problem also -- but with the \ (leader) key. I cannot type \c or \\ any more without having an error message pop up. I have temporarily got around this situation with imaps, but I'd like a more permanent solution also. I may have the vimspell plugin installed; to what file does the diff refer to? Sorry that this is not a direct reply to the original message. I've just joined the mailing list and have no means to reply to previous posts. I had this problem, too. And when I removed vimspell plugin, the problem was gone. I was using vim 6.3 tetex 2.0.2 vim-latexsuite 0.20041219-1 on Debian stable. All Debian packages, along with some other vim plugins. > I have been having a bizarre problem while editing LaTeX files: the cursor > does not move after entering a '.' or a ','.
