I'd rather point the users to the fact that they need to be aware
of view menu for now. Hiding this problem is not a solution.

This will cause more confusion to users by hiding the fact that
they have to deal with viemode menu for now.

Expecting users to know which mode a map should be in is wrong.
It's not "viking's philosophy" not to select the right mode automatically.
It's just the fact that we haven't been able to fix the problem yet.

Note that the discussion was about viking's viewmode in general, not just at
map layer creation as the original poster mentioned.
