No. As I remember, the last time we discussed about the admissible
gtk+ version, we concluded that 2.8 is correct. So I think your
configuration is correct. The problem, is that all active developpers
probably have more recent version.

Can you report (on this list or via SourceForge) your compilation log?
I sugest you to use "make -k" in order to list as many error as
possible.
