timeline pan feature using hotkey Alt + MMB up/down
Non-linear video editor targeted for home video editing.
Brought to you by:

please a panning feature using a shortcut like Alt + Middle Mouse Button Down/Up to allow smooth navigation across the timeline.
other video editing software use the same shortcut to pan the time line (move horizontal bar) when zoomed in. control + MMB up/down already zooms in [OK] but alt + MMB up/down is missing [NOK]
atm the shortcut seems to move the vertical bar instead of the horizontal.
thanks.
I hope you understand what I am asking for, I noticed Alt+MMB up/down already does what I want but only for the vertical bar instead of the horizontal bar what I am used to and what other programs use.

Have you tried using the RIght mouse button already.
Pressing that and then moving the mouse should allow timeline navigation.
this is how it works in other apps:

in vidiot this is not the case:

I think I'm misunderstanding the question.
You can zoom in/out (horizontally) via CTRL+Mouse wheel.
You can pan horizontally via pressing and holding the right mouse button, then moving left/right.
Do you mean a different type of panning?
Or do you mean 'I prefer this to be done via a different mouse/key binding'?
Sorry Eric, for my messy feature request / bug report. I think pan is not the correct term.
What I want is to move the horizontal bar in the time line to the right when holding down alt-key and scrolling down and move the horizontal bar to the left when when holding down alt-key and scrolling up. This is the standard behavior in all other video editors I have tested.
Ah, now I (think I) understand.
You'd like to be able to use the mouse wheel to use the horizontal scrolling as well?
Is this correct?
That actually should work, using Shift (using the Alt key was difficult, I remember, because when I made this the Alt key was default-mapped onto showing the Menu bar options highlights).
Anyway, the use of Shift also doesn't work, so I'll look into it anyway :-)
Yes, I'd like to be able to use the mouse wheel to use the horizontal scrolling as well.
I see it seems to work with shift and mouse wheel but as I mentioned this is not standard. (alt + mouse wheel is used by most/all video editors)
Next version of Vidiot, both Shift and Alt can be used for the horizontal scrolling.
