Greetings. I am a new Vidiot user. I am recounting my experience on the first project I completed with it.

I edited an existing MP4 file by cropping one side, then centering the remaining top of frame to bottom of frame portion to the horizontal center of the image space. The vacant edges were filled in with black by the program. It was then saved intact as a .vid file, and the .vid file appeared and ran as intended.

The .vid file was subsequently exported as an MP4 file, and the save process went smoothly and an MP4 file was created. However, when played back, the MP4 file displays the centered content from the .vid file as a parallelogram, with the edited frame bottom left corner at the bottom left corner of the whole frame, and the image top right corner at the top right corner of the whole frame. Aside from re-centering the image, no other alterations were made.

Any ideas on what could be causing this problem?

Windows 7 platform with plenty of video and processor horsepower.

My replay of the video in MP4 form was executed with VLC.

Copies of the three generated .log files are attached.

Hi, thank you for reporting this.
At first, I thought this had to be related to the cropping so I tried doing exactly what you said, but that worked fine.

Then, I inspected the log files. I noted that your input has a size of 554x416 pixels (which is fine).
So, to try with that resolution I wanted to create a video of that exact same size, then do the edits.

Turns out that the video file I then generated has a similar problem as what you mentioned!
So, long story short, you found a bug ;-)

It seems Vidiot doesn't handle some output sizes well. Particularly, in your case the width is not a multiple of 32. I changed the output size to have a width of 544x516 pixels (menu File, then option Properties). Then the file renders ok. Maybe you could try that?

In the meantime I have a new bug to fix ;-)

    Again, thanks for reporting.

    Eric

Thanks for the reply Eric. I'll give your suggestion a try.

        Hi Eric,

This is a followup to my message yesterday.

        I followed your suggestion and attempted to re-export the.vid file at a resolution of 544 x 516
and everything appeared to be proceeding smothly until an "Internal Error" message appeared
in a dialogue box and the export failed. I did not attempt it a second time.

A quick inspection of the .log file generated ledme to believeI should pass it along to you and
we will see what happenswith your bug repair.

        Here it is. HTH.

        Thanks,
