VICE doesn't seem to accept "illegal" CRT sizes when seemingly a real C64 does?
Also (as described in the same post)... as a Quality of Life feature, would it be possible to attempt to run cartridges with no header, by transparently going through popular headerless formats until one doesn't fail to start?
And/or even maybe parse specific filename keywords to set those?
The solution to all of this is: convert the binary to a proper .crt file
