A interesting new problem with VICE 3.5 and Qlink reloaded (q-link.net:5190). The message bases will no longer load. But they still work fine in VICE 3.1 with the same exact settings.
Computer model: C64 NTSC (this is important as PAL will cause issues)
Userport, serial 1, baud 1200
serial 1, 52.26.142.158:5190, baud 1200, ip232 checked
(ACIA is OFF/unchecked)
The method:
Log into Qlink reloaded using a fresh unactivated disk/image (or one you have activated on this server before), and go through with the sign up procedure (if you have a disk from before you don't need to do this part obviously).
Select to customer support section with cursor keys, press f1 or enter/return to select
Use arrow keys to put the check mark on Alpha Testers Message Base and F1 to select
press F1 again with the checkmark on see list of latest message topics
Nothing loads/displays, when the same method works fine on VICE 3.1
Okay after further testing (and right after I posted this, figures) I found that if I turn off/uncheck the ip232 the message bases work again. I could have sworn I did that test before, but this time I had restarted/reloaded the emulator. Perhaps the setting didn't stick for some reason last time. :( It is interesting that everything else works with that checked except the message bases.
Sorry for the ticket-in-error. I would delete it if I could.
are you using the latest tcpser? you have to use io232 with the latest tcpser. old tcpser does not support ip232. however for dtr to work, you must use latest tcpser+ip232.
Yes I am. But in this case tcpser isn't being used with Qlink, so that isn't a factor. Either way it would appear Qlink doesn't like the ip232 on.
Of course QLink doesn't like ip232. It's a tcpser protocol. ip232 can't be used with anything else.
closing, not a bug :)
