I Can't Create a APFS volume when "Encrypting a non-system partition/drive".
As long I a choose "Mac OS Extended" I have no problems.
I can however create a a file container with an APFS volume.
Note: Since APFS is the latest, I decided to use that Filesystem. Regardless of this problem, it is possible that the best Filesystem for data on a hard drive is still HFS+(Mac OS Extended).

Error: "newfs_apfs: unable to open /dev/disk6: Permission denied"
After 7 hours of formatting I got the above error. (With both quick or regular format I get the same error)
Whether I use a sub-partition or I am encrypting a whole drive I get the same error.
I now only attempt a quick format because I want to know if it will work before I waste another 7 hours.

OS: macOS Monterey 12.4 (21F79)
Computer: Mac mini (M1, 2020)
Processor: Apple M1
VeraCrypt Version: 1.25.9
Drive: G-DRIVE Thunderbolt 3 (Note: tried to hookup via USB-C as well) (one other "SSD" drive had the same problem.)
I have made sure that VeraCrypt has full disk access.
Note: for my purposes, I should be able to use the "Mac OS Extended", until Apple stops supporting it.
