I have a volume that I have been troubleshooting for a couple of years now. It will mount, I see the volume with the correct storage size but it is in RAW format. I have tried every Windows "recovery software" but none is able to see the logical volume once mounted, though Windows Explorer can. I have read that Linux is a good route to go and has a good success rate.
I purchased a laptop and loaded Ubuntu. I installed Veracrypt for Ubuntu. I insert the USB into the new laptop and attempt to mount, but it consistently rejects the mount, although I enter the same password I use in Windows. I have made sure it is not in the Truecrypt format. Any advice or suggestions?

The only advice I can provide is to check your VeraCrypt volumes that will not mount using 1.26.x are probably using one or more of the deprecated items.
Thank you very much! So glad you posted. That is exactly what it is. I will follow the procedures to convert the volume. I really appreciate your time.

Enigma2Illusion,
I checked everything and the Veracrypt volume was/is not in Truecrypt format or utilizing one or more of the deprecated items. It will mount in Windows but not in Ubuntu.

As a test, create a small file container on Windows using the same hash & encryption algorithms, filesystem format (NTFS, exFAT, etc), allow/disallow large files parameters that match the volume that fails to mount on Ubuntu.
Then see if the newly Windows created volume can be mounted successfully on Ubuntu.

I am utilizing Windows 11 Pro and Veracrypt 1.25.9 on the PC. I am using Ubuntu 24.04.1 and Veracrypt 1.26.14 on the Linux laptop,
Is there no one out there with any advice at all?
