I'm not entirely sure if this is a veracrypt issue but I believe it may be. I wanted to boot into safe mode to run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), however when I used the standard hold shift while pressing restart and when I rebooted it only showed the "shutdown this PC" option. It looked like this found. I also tried booting into it using the option in the Recovery section of the Windows settings with the same results.
I was able to get into it by following the instructions here to enable legacy boot options. However this is very tedious and I'd rather not have to enable and disable this option, especially if I need to access this menu frequently.
I tried running startup repair both with and without a recovery disk but it said it couldn't resolve errors and there was no log. Does startup repair even function with veracrypt installed on the system drive?
Can the Windows 10 advanced recovery options be accessed normally when a Windows 10 system drive is encrypted?
I'm having a hard time finding direct answers, I only found this thread which seems to be having a similar issue, however I can't dismount the drive since it's a system drive.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I did a clean install of Windows 10 (wiped drive and reinstalled) and I checked the Advanced Startup Options menu worked normally and showed all options. Then with no other programs installed I started running an encryption of Veracrypt and as soon as I did that the Advanced Startup Options only showed "shutdown this PC"
So it is definitely Veracrypt that does this, and I'm wondering if this can be fixed since I can still access those options by enabling the legacy advanced boot options as described on the forum post I linked.
Is this a limitation in Veracrypt or something that could feasibly be fixed?
