I have a volume with a separate profile of firefox and every time I use that profile for enough time and then close it and try to dismount the volume I get a warning that files are still in use. This occurs even after closing the browser and waiting several hours before trying to dismount again.

I've tried both a portable installation of Firefox with all of it's files and configurations on the volume and a normal install with the app installed on another drive with just the profile information located within the volume and I get the same issue.

I cannot reproduce this when using it other apps/files on the drive, including other applications such as games.

Leaving Firefox open in the background with minimal interaction for several hours does not reproduce issue, I have to use the browser normally for about an hour for the issue to trigger.

I know no processes or files are open, I've checked everything, and the PowerToys utility File Locksmith running as administrator shows no processes running on it.

For a simplified step by step.

    1. Actively use Firefox with a profile located inside a veracrypt encrypted volume or a portable installation of Firefox located within the volume for about an hour
    2. Close the browser and ensure no other apps/files are open from that volume and wait a few seconds to ensure everything is closed.
    3. Try to dismount volume
    4. Notice how it asks you to force dismount. This will occur even if all apps/files have been closed from that volume for several hours and persists as many times as you attempt to dismount the volume

    I'm using Veracrypt 1.25.9 on Windows 10 22H2

Excluding the mounted drive letter in Windows defender seems to have resolved the issue. Thank you for the help.
