I recently wanted to encrypt my 2TB HDD after i already did sucessfully encrypt my 250GB SSD.

    Setup is:
SSD is main disk with Windows on it and primary boot medium
2TB HDD is secondary "data backup" only
    Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0.17134 Build 17134)
    Veracrypt 1.23 Hotfix 2

I began encrypting the biggest partition on the HDD (because whole disk would mean i have to format it first) and after i paused the process for 2 times and continued it the next day, somehow the third try it didnt worked.

When i start VeraCrypt it says ""You have scheduled the process of encryption/decryption of a parition/volume. The process has not been completed yet. Do you want to resume the process now?"

When i click "Yes" it says:
"Veracrypt does not have sufficient information to determine whether to encrypt or decrypt"

Then i click on "Encrypt" and the Volume Creation Wizard opens and wants me to put in the password for the partition. I enter the password (it is correct because i used the same one as on the SSD). Then it says:
"Operation failed due to one or more of the following:
    - Incorrect password
    - Incorrect Volume PIM number
    - Incorrect PRF (hash)
    - Not a valid volume
    Source: ResumeInPlaceEncWaitThreadProc:346"

    And right after:

"Veracrypt has not found any volume where the process of encryption/decryption of a non-system volume has been interrupted and where the volume header can be deciphered using the supplied password and/or keyfile(s).

Please make sure the password and/or keyfile(s) are correct and that the parition/volume is not being used by the system or applications (including antivirus software)."

I don't know what to do... I used TrueCrypt Containers for years, encrypted my HDD back then, now my SSD also and now i dont have access to 2TB of data dating back for 10 years ...

Try to mount the partition normally (without trying to resume) first. If mounting normally doesn't work, then the next time when you click "Mount", also click the "Mount Options" button on that dialog and from there check the option "Use backup header embedded in volume if available".

Mounting the partition doesn't work, or resuming after mounting?

If mounting the partition doesn't work with either the regular or backup header, then there is likely something going on with the drive that is more serious than just a problem with VeraCrypt being interrupted. The next step I would try is to boot the computer in Linux using a live linux DVD (Linux Mint is a good choice), install the Linux version of VeraCrypt and see if the partition can be mounted from within VeraCrypt in Linux.

Have the same problem with the encryption of my 8tb external drive. Stoped encrytion after 2 days at about 50% for a windows restart.
Afterwords the resuming was not possible. The message appeared, that Uwe posted above. However I can mount the partition normally. It still brings the message if I try to resume enryption afterwords. If I try to mount it with enabled option "Use backup header embedded in volume if available", I get the above message still.
    What might be the reason?

After months i wanted to try it again and made a Veracrypt Rescue Disk USB stick. I tried to type in the password(s) and didnt succeded. Then i tried to "Restore Header" and typed in the PW again. This time it worked and it said sucesfully restored the header.

Then i could go to options and Decrypt disk with the PW - It accepted it and started to decrypt! But as this is a 2TB HD it will take extremly long (it said in Windows its faster). So i paused it and tried to boot in Windows again.

I tried to mount it again in Windows but the password doesnt work. Also Volumes -> Permanentely Decrypt says either wrong password, volume PIM number, incorrect PRF (hash) or not a valid volume...

I am not 100% sure the Rescue USB Stick is the one from the corrupted hard disk. It could be also the one from my other hard disk which i sucesfully encrypted (but then again it accepted my PW, i could restore boot header with only the corrupted HD plugged in).
