I'm a bit confused as to who should upgrade to 1.22. I am using drive encrytion on an SSD that hosts WIndows 7. Would there be a benefit to my upgrading from 1.21 to 1.22? If so, what Trim settings should I use?

    Thank you

In general, you should always keep your security software up-to-date due to new features, bug fixes and security fixes.

Yes, in general, thank you. But I'm trying to specifically address the TRIM support in 1.22 and whether this will help SSD performance, and if so, what settings I should use.

Do you have non-system partition encrypted on your system drive? In other words, you were able to select the whole disk option instead of the OS only option during system encryption. If you encrypted the other non-system partition seperately on your SSD, continue reading below.

After reading the above, you can decide if you want to enable TRIM. If yes, then upgrade to 1.22 and enabled TRIM in both Windows and in VeraCrypt for non-system encryption using SSDs.

I have a single partition (the OS) encrypted on the SSD (there are no other partitions on the SSD). TRIM is enabled in Windows. So, should I continue using TRIM in Windows and enable TRIM when I upgrade to 1.22, or should I disable TRIM in Windows and not enable it when I upgrade to 1.22?

In regard to this section of the manual "such sectors may contain unencrypted zeroes or other undefined data (unencrypted) even if they are located within a part of the drive that is encrypted by VeraCrypt"I don't see unencrypted zeros as a concern but what exactly is the "undefined data"?

The new option to enable TRIM in VeraCrypt is for non-system SSDs. Based on your posting above, you do not need to change any settings in Windows or VeraCrypt.

I do not know the answer.
