    Hello VeraCrypt Support team,

I’m writing because I am unable to mount my encrypted E: drive after creating it with VeraCrypt 1.26.24.

    Summary of the issue

I installed VeraCrypt 1.26.24 and encrypted/locked my E: drive. At that time a .hc type container file was generated.

My PC now shows only drives C: and E:. When I attempt to mount the E: drive, mounting fails and I receive error messages (I have attached screenshots of the exact messages).

I cannot find the .hc container file on my PC. I think it may have been deleted or the file may be corrupted, but I don’t know what exactly happened.

    What I’ve attached

Screenshots of the error messages (attached to this email).

A screenshot showing my drives (if available).

(If you need them later) I can also provide VeraCrypt log files or any other diagnostic output you request.

    Questions / Request

Do you provide any official tool or procedure that can help recover or decrypt the E: volume when the .hc container file is missing or corrupted?

Are there recommended steps I should take now (for example, to attempt header restoration, data imaging, or safe recovery) that minimize the chance of permanent data loss?

What specific diagnostic information would help you evaluate this issue (OS version, VeraCrypt logs, volume header backup file, external drive image)? I will provide it immediately.

    Important notes

I have not purposely formatted the drive. I want to avoid any operations that could reduce the chance of recovering the data. Please advise on safe next steps.

If there are official tools or step-by-step instructions for restoring a volume header or recovering a deleted container, please point me to them or share them.

Thank you for your help — I appreciate any guidance or tools you can provide.

    Best regards,
    Ashok

    What did you actually do?
    a. Encrypt your E: drive (a whole drive, or a partition on a drive)?
    b. Create a file container (with the .hc extension)? On what drive?
    c. Or both, ie encrpyt your E: drive, then mount it and create a file container on that?

Can't possibly begin to assist you until you clarify this. It's also necessary to provided a relevant screenshot, ie of Windows Disk Manager, showing your drive configration.
