Not sure if it was the update itself that caused the problem as I rarely reboot this machine and did so after the recent Windows 10 updates.
I've had Veracrypt installed on this machine for years with no issues.
Now when I boot I get the normal prompt to enter the password. After many failed attempts I get a message the the header could be corrupted and to try to restore it.
I have the rescue disk saved as an ISO and I currently boting to Linux through a live usb and I have Veracrypt running on it. No luck mounting the encrypted system partition in Linux.
I have two questions regarding the rescue disk:
1) How do I save the current header before I restore? Just in case my brain is fried and I'm remembering the password incorrectly since I rarely reboot. Also since my rescue disk backup is old I'd rather take some precautions before going down this road.
2) How do I create a bootable USB from the rescue image? A tool included in Ubuntu for writing ISOs to USBs did not work. Any recommendation on how to do it on Linux?
Anything else I should be aware of before trying to recover the headers?
Thank you for your help in advance!
