I have used VeraCrypt in Windows 7 perfectly but in Windows 10 it limits the length of the password and for that reason I can't open the external disk.
Is that normal? What can I do to be able to set this longer password in Win 10?
Thanks for any advice
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
VeraCrypt will not restrict typing more characters. However, depending on which version of VeraCrypt you are using, VeraCrypt handles the password greater than 64 characters differently for non-system encryption.
If the version of VeraCrypt is prior to 1.24, any characters after 64 are ignored.
If the version of VeraCrypt is 1.24 or newer, then VeraCrypt will use up to 128 characters.

Is this the issue you are encountering at the link below?

Thanks Enigma
That link pretty much speaks to my problem only I don't get that error because not being able to type the full password I didn't continue.
I am using version 1.24 which in Win 7 I can type the full password and open the disk perfectly but in Win 10 it won't let me type it.
So the problem is not that version, right?

Therefore, I do not understand why Windows 10 is preventing you from typing in the password.
Obviously the problem is Windows but how can I solve it?
Can you tell me where to look for the solution?
Do you know if anyone else has had this problem?
Thanks
Just curious. How many characters will Windows 10 let you enter into the VeraCrypt password box before it stops allowing new characters?
As a test, can you type the password into Notepad and copy-and-paste into the VeraCrypt password box successfully?
I don't know how to solve this problem.
Post on Microsoft community forums and https://www.tenforums.com/ forum.
I am not aware of someone posting that they cannot enter all the characters for the password.
Ok Enigma, I will look where you tell me.
I had thought about the Microsoft forums but first I needed to make sure it was not a VeraCrypt problem.
Thank you for your help.
