    Dear all,

I have made a mess of things and am now trying to save what can be saved.

    The following has happened:

    Problem History

    • I tried to encrypt my Windows System using VeraCrypt.

    • During the Pretest (Reboot), Veracrypt asked for the Password

    • The Password was accepted. The computer then freezes after start xx lens xx

    • Restarting did not help. Trying ESC to pass the Launcher failed.

    • RESCUE DISC: Decrypt OS was followed by an encryption process, however veracrypt launcher still asks for the password after restart. (CAVE: I am an idiot and tried this twice). "in panic" i tried any other option of the rescue disc, none worked (e.g. "original windows loader not found").

    Current Situation

    • I booted a LIVE DISK of LINUX MINT, gparted shows the folllowing partitions (see pic1).

    • I installed Veracrypt and mounted sda4 using the 'do not mount file system option'

    • Something seems to work, password is accepted and veracrypt shows a volume, but i can not access it (see pic2).

    • mount ntfs or vfat /dev/mapper/veracrypt7 etc. did not work (does not seem to have a valid NTFS & already mounted or mount point busy for vfat)

    • fdisk l shows the following (see pic3)

    • Volume Properties in Veracrypt for the decrypted file shows following (see pic4)

Any advices? Is there any chance to access the data or recover the partition?

    Adding some more information:

I did TestDisc Scans for the sda4 Volume (picture 1) as well as a TestDiscScan for the 'in linux decrypted volume' (picture 2 and 3)
