So as the title says, I'm trying to mount a system encrypted drive that went bad on me somehow,
By going bad i mean the veracrypt boot loader was no longer found in the list.
The reason why i'm doing any of this is to try and possibly retrieve the rescue disk which is on the system still...
I've tried finding threads with similar issues to me and i haven't came across any that are exactly the same.
I can't do anything to the drive even though its mounted
repairing file system / checking file system gives me this error
Attempting to repair the file system on the VeraCrypt volume mounted as N:...
The type of the file system is RAW.
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.
Trying to restore the volume header gives me the generic operation failed to etc, etc.
Source: RestoreVolumeHeader:10347
So is there any advice you can give me to possibly extract the rescue disk and restore the veracrypt boot loader

Weird, I have the same issue since yesterday.
Will try what Alex suggested.
Mounted external USB device successful to drive I
Entered device and reviewed folders and files
Had a phone call
Entered sleep mode (windows 7 pro)
All good so far but ...
Started windows again
Device was not mounted anymore
Mounted device again (afaik 3rd attempt, have a long password and was in a hurry so I failed twice)
-- Message: Volume header corrupted, please restore volume header
Unmounted the device
Successfully restored volume header from internal backup. During this process something new had been done as I had to move the mouse to randomly create any numbers. Cannot remember what this is used for.
Successfully mounted the device
Message "This device does not contain a valid file system."
This is still the issue.
What I tried so far:
- remove entries in registry "MountedDevices" that contain Veracrypt. Reboot. Issue not solved.
- use another USB port. Issue not solved.

Tried a lot of recovery tools, none of them worked so far. Does anyone know what might have happened or how I can find out what happened to this device? Is this about headers only or is this also about encryption? Is there any chance to get the data back? I am using truecrypt and verycrypt for many years now and this never happened before. Can I consider that all my encrypted devices may get damaged this way?

is anyone able to help me with this?
Select system volume -> mount ->mount option -> check "mount partition using system encryption..."

Does not work for me. I cannot mount by using this option. Any other idea?

if you have rescue usb decryption is possible. (you have to know password)
if header is damged and no rescue USB => data is lost. (keys are lost)
OS header is in 62 sector os system disk. You can check it via any hexeditor tools.
