In Windows 10 I have a favorite Veracrypt volume that I can mount to a drive letter upon entering a password.

  1. Presently upon Windows 10 logon Veracrypt asks me for a password. Why is it doing this? I enter the password that I use to mount my favorite volume but it gives me an auto-mount failed error.
  2. I would like Windows upon logon to ask me the password to mount my volume. How do I do this? How do I undo this?
  3. Why would someone cache a password, or set up their system to bypass asking for a password (are these two things the same?), to mount a volume? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a password?
