I have a VeraCrypt container on one Mac on my network. I access it from two other Macs (not at the same time) on my network. I have accessed it from both Macs for several years. After upgrading to the latest MacOS Catalina (version 10.15.1) I could access the container from one Mac correctly. From the second Mac I would get an error 232. That error indicates that VeraCrypt did not have permission to access the networked volume. In spite of the error, the volume opened and was decrypted so that I could access the files. That is the problem. VeraCrypt should NOT be able to open the volume with that error.
The solution was to open Mac System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy tab->Files & Folders->VeraCrypt.app. Put a check mark in Network Volumes. The error message is no longer there.
I believe VeraCrypt should not be able to open and decrypt the volume when it does not have authorization to access Network Volumes.

Hi there. Not familiar with MACs so excuse me if i'm saying something wrong here, but (from my experience with other OSs) since the Error 232 seems to be an OS error, isn't the OS's responsibility to prevent any application that does not have access, from accessing the file? Why should it be VC's responsibility to prohibit itself from accessing the file?
