    Hello all,
I have encrypted a folder on a cloud drive which I am accessing from different devices (PCs, tablets etc). After changing the password on one PC I discovered that the password on another PC did not change, i.e. I have to use the old password to access the folder from this PC. I always thought that the password is locked to the folder (or drive) and not to the client device. Can anybody provide some details about how Veracrypt handles passwords?

VeraCrypt does not encrypt folders. Only disks, partitions and file containers which is a virtual disk drive.

The password change writes a new primary and embedded backup headers for VC volumes except for system encryption which does not have embedded backup header.

    1. Are you using a mounted file container in the cloud?
    2. Are the other PCs using the exact same file container in the cloud that you change the password and not a copy of the file container that has the same name?
    3. Did you dismount the file container before changing the password and are you sure you did not change the password of the file container on the PC's local HDD?
    4. Did you try mounting the file container on the PC that you used to change the password by using the old password?

Sorry for my incorrect wording. I am using a mounted file container stored on a cloud drive as virtual disk drive.
All PCs are using the same file container. After all, it is the idea that if I change or add information, that this information is available on all PCs.
In this case I did not dismount the container. I switched the respective PC to hibernation and activated the other PC, and now I think I understand what has happened. I changed the file of the container, hibernated the PC, changed to the other PC and checked the container. The file has not changed.
Obviously I have to dismount the container any time before I change the PC. However I wonder what really happened due to my mistakte, because the container is working on both PCs but with different passwords and contents. It seems as if I have two containers....strange.
