Has anyone gotten system encryption to work with a Windows Server 2019 VM (hosted by Hyper-V, itself running on Windows Server 2019)?

...I've taken a number of different stabs at this, with secure boot enabled/distabled, integration services enabled/disabled, passing through the TPM vs. not, etc., and regardless of what I try, after the system encryption pretest I'm told that the pretest failed (even though it seemed to work just fine).

For what it's worth, I can create a Windows Server 2016 VM and use system encryption without issue - so it seems they changed something in 2019 that's getting in the way.

Steps to attempt on your own:

    1) Download an evaluation copy of Windows Server 2019:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2019?filetype=ISO

    2) Install on whatever box you're testing with

    3) Add the Hyper-V role:
    https://vmarena.com/installing-hyper-v-on-windows-server-2019/

    4) Create a new Windows Server 2019 VM

    5) Download VeraCrypt 1.24-Hotfix1 and try to encrypt the system drive.

...if anyone is able to get this to work I'd be very interested to know what you used for your settings - both at the host and at the guest level.

    Thanks,

    Nathan

...bumping this one back up - has anyone been able to successfully encrypt the boot drive of a Windows 2019 Hyper-V VM?

I had the same problem, I had to disable secure boot to make it boot again, then it asked for password and PIM (english keyboard)
