Helllo. I have VeraCrypt, latest version. I have a hidden partition scheme on my microsd card.
The drive was working fine. However, as of an hour ago, it became inaccessible in both Windows 10 and Tails, latest version. When I mount a non-hidden drive, the Window shows the drive letter and I can open it. However, when I mount hidden, the drive mounts, but the drive letter isn't. I went into disk management, and the drive is there, with it's mounted letter, shown as RAW. In "My Computer" I don't see it. The same happens in Tails. I see the drive mounted, but when I click on it, it shows the error. I tried restoring header, but it did not help.
I tried it. I inserted dive, went to map, removed Letter G, mounted hidden partition, then tried assigning letter to it, and got "You need to format your drive (G, J, etc.), and that's where the volume automatically dismounted.
I get partition error in Tails. So I doubt its Windows speciffic.
Anything else I can do?

Yes, that is what I did. Le'ts say I did letter J. I mount particion, but letter J is just emppty. Like I don't see a drive where I can open it and browse contents. When I click on it, it says I need to format it. I then go back to Disk Management and try to assign letter to that particion to see what will happen.

It seems that the hidden volume's filesystem has been damaged. Anytime when you mounted the outer volume, did you use the option to protect the hidden volume?
If the answer is no, it seems that data being added or updated to the outer volume may have overwritten the hidden volume.
Based on user feedback on the forums, make clone of the drive. Then on the clone, mount the hidden volume and use a data recovery software to attempt data recovery.

VeraCrypt Mounter that ships with Tails was not developed by us so we can't really help with it.
You can use the standard VeraCrypt installer in Tails (just download the generic installer, you will need to setup a password during Tails startup in order to be able to install VeraCrypt).
The only advice that can be given is such situation is to use data recovery software and to point them to the mounted volume for hidden volume.
@johnbird2: what filesystem are using for the outer volume and for the hidden volume?

Thank you.

On my Windows 10 Pro system, the mounted VeraCrypt partition on external HDD do not show the drive letter in Windows Disk Management.
With the VeraCrypt volume dismounted, use Windows Disk Management to remove the the "G" drive letter from the RAW partition.
I tried it. I inserted dive, went to map, removed Letter G, mounted hidden partition, then tried assigning letter to it, and got "You need to format your drive (G, J, etc.), and that's where the volume automatically dismounted.

I do not understand your statement "mounted hidden partition, then tried assigning letter to it".
As part of mounting a VeraCrypt volume, you have to select one of the available drive letters showing in the VeraCrypt GUI and then mount the volume.

This issue started before I went into outer volume to see if it will mount. Thanks for your help.
Just read other boards, looks like this is a common issue and it cannot be corrected. I tried recovery software, and it can't access the drive either.
Here is the Tails error. Can someone please take a look.
