this is a question about the speed of my system. I've read that M.2 SSDs have a special problem with Veracrypt-Encryption, because they are bad in writing random data because of their architecture... or something like that. I'm sorry, I am clearly a member of the MacNoobs (we're scottish and know nothing about computers). As I understand, this is different from normal SSDs?
Im wondering because Im buying new storage and I wonder which way I should go. How much of a problem is that?
I have already a BX500 here (but could give it back), The BX500 2TB SSD has "Security: 256-bit AES encryption, Self-encrypting drive (SED)" as a feature. That sounds... good? Its not M.2 by the way.
Anyone who could lend me a hand here?
(In case its neccessary: Windows10, 32GB DDR4, AMD Ryzen 5 2600x, X470 Gaming Plus Mainboard)

From the comments I've seen, NVMe drive issues with VeraCrypt are not universal and most likely to crop up in low memory situations. I never had problems, but they can be excruciating for the people who do. One alternative is self-encrypting drives, perhaps like what you already have. I won't discuss their use in a VeraCrypt forum, but if you're dead set on pursuing it, I'll drop this little breadcrumb... https://sedutil.com/
Be warned that if you learn enough to take full advantage of your SED (outside Bitlocker, which can also use it), you will be permanently ostracised from the MacNoob clan :)

Well, I'd like to stay with Veracrypt, because I know how it works. I'm getting older and slower learning new technomagic. But it sounds like it's not my problem maybe. I am not a professional user, I do some games, I do some downloads, I do some Imagegeneration, I do some 'writing letters'. Oh, not to forget: I do some audio books! Audio books? A Problem maybe? What I do NOT want, is that my System freezes for a second every hour and I get worried and take that into some nightly nightmare that shortens my lifespan.
But that sounds like I can buy a M.2 SSD and veracrypt it without issues?
