I just created a new Veracrypt drive and a hidden drive within it. It worked as expected for a day or two, but then when I tried to mount the hidden drive, a screen came up saying Windows needed to format the drive before it could be used.
I used Truecrypt for years without a problem, but about a month ago the same issue occurred, so I figured I would change to Veracrypt. Disappointed to see this same issue reappear.
The regular drive works fine...its the hidden one that has the issue.
Can I somehow recover this data and resume using this drive?
How do I keep this from happening again?
I never had to force close the new drive and it never gave me any error messages. I am using the current version of Veracrypt on a Windows 10 machine that is also current.
Hoping someone out there has had the same problem and successfully fixed it. Thanks in advance!

When you mount the outer volume, are you using the option to protect the hidden volume?
If not, my guess is during the usage of the outer volume, data is written into the hidden volume that is causing the damage.
Have you tried to mount the hidden volume using the option embedded backup header?
