First VC Volume format on external 8TB hard disk takes 75 hours? How to speed up?

I bought a new Seagate IronWolf SATA III hard disk with a capacity of 8TB.
I want to use it as encrypted backup hard disk for my Windows 10 computer files+folders.

"As usual" I connected this external drive via an USB3 cable with my rather modern Windows PC (with Intel CPU 12th Gen) and created a new volume on this external hard disk.

I selected AES and SHA512 and performed a full initial volume format at first.

It took 75 hours (!!!). Unbelievable and disappointing.

Is there really no faster way or speed up for this step?

It depends on your security requirements.

When encrypting disk/partition you can use the Quick Format option which perform a quick format and skips writing random data to the entire volume during the encryption creation process.

However, using Quick Format allows any preexisting sensitive data to still be available for data recovery tools and plausible deniability is compromised since you can "see" where the encrypted portions of the drive/partition verses the not encrypted portions within the drive/partition.

    EDIT:
For File Containers, you have Full Format, Quick Format and Fast Create.

File Container's Quick Format will skip filling the entire space with random data which has security risks. However, Windows OS will fill the space with zeros which is encrypted causing very time consuming creation for large file containers.

File Container's Fast Create will skip filling the entire space with random data which has security risks and avoids the Windows OS from filling the space with zeros.

Does the same thing happen if a Linux distro is used instead of Microsoft Windows OS?

I do not use VeraCrypt and Linux. To my knowledge, there are no posts complaining about creating File Containers having the same issue that occurs on the Windows OS when using the Quick Format option.

The Fast Create option is only available on the Windows OS.
